PCI unable to handle 64bit address space for

Hello all this is my first post to this list so i would like to than you all in advance for your time and consideration. I am in the process of building a new server and have purchased some used hardware. There seems to be some hardware issuses and i am hoping nothing was damaged during shipping. However i am in contact with intel and we are tring to figure out the exact problem via email. So i have insalled centos 4 from the four CD set and have done all the updates through the GUI. I must say a GUI in Linux land is nice have been working mostly on old FreeBSD boxes none of which have GUI installed. Anyways the above mentioned hardware is this INTEL SR2300 CHASSIS INTEL SE7500WV2 MAINBOARD INTEL (DUAL) XEON P4 2GHZ CPU HP 1G ECC RAM ADAPTEC 29160LP SCSI CONTROLLER PROMISE FASTRAC SOMETHING OR OTHER has nothing attached to it anyhow. I have four Seagate Cheetas 147G 10.6K SCSI harddrive most are firmware version 0006 (been meaning to update this to 00007 before i go to production) HERE IS MY PROBLEM ======================================= When i boot up the machine i get this error off the getgo PCI unable to handle 64bit address space for ========================================================== Everything seems to work fine but i am woundering before i go any further should i be installing the 64bit version of Centos on this machine? Is there a 64 version of Centos? anyways any help or advice on this matter is greatly apprciated. ps if anyone is familiar with this mainboard and hardware setup i would love some insight as to the was the BIOS error event codes that this machine keeps spiting out at me mean. OT: Precautions before draining laptop battery?

Hi, I have found some advice on the web regarding battery draining, but no linux-specific information. Are there some steps to be taken to protect the harddrive? Unmounting file-systems? I would appreciate any advice. Itay

How about a simple sanity check in the startup script? ping -c 4 192.168.140.13 Put that in before you attempt to mount the filesystem to make sure there aren't network problems. -- Bowie

Hi everyone, I suspect that Apache 2.0.52 as distributed with CentOS has a memory leak issue. Is anyone aware of this? Problem with NFS mount after upgrade to 4.4

Hello After i have upgraded to centos 4.4 i have a problem during the boot with NFS, CentOS can't mount NFS shares: Oct 2 11:47:28 s2 mount: mount: mount to NFS server '192.168.140.13' failed: Oct 2 11:47:28 s2 mount: System Error: No route to host. Oct 2 11:47:34 s2 mount: mount: mount to NFS server '192.168.140.13' failed: Oct 2 11:47:34 s2 mount: System Error: No route to host. Oct 2 11:47:40 s2 mount: mount: mount to NFS server '192.168.140.13' failed: Oct 2 11:47:40 s2 mount: System Error: No route to host. Oct 2 11:47:40 s2 netfs: Mounting NFS filesystems: failed Oct 2 11:47:40 s2 netfs: Mounting other filesystems: succeeded This CentOS is only a client NFS. If i run "/etc/init.d/netfs start" shares are mount regolary. It can't be a network problem, the only one changes i have made to this server is upgrade from 4.3 to 4.4. Why this? Thanks

PHP-gtk anyone?

Hi, I seem to be going round in circles trying to install php-gtk for Agata on a CentOS 4.4 installation - the configure keeps falling out with: checking for libglade-config... no checking for libglade... no configure: error: Unable to locate libglade I have installed libglade 1.99 and 2.01 directly from rpm but something's not meeting up. Is there a nice, yum-type install for libglade and php-gtk - I can't seem to find any in the usual places!? Failing that, any pointers?? Thanks

pam.d configuring ssh service to authenticate against radius servers

I have compiled and installed the pam_radius_auth module but am unable to get the configurations working properly. Any samples configurations will be appreciated. How can I efficiently search for programs and packages that are available as part of the CentOs4.3 distribution? I am using CentOs4.3 and need to install packages that are apparently not part of this distribution. What RedHat version do I have to consider if I want to use rpm's for RedHat instead? Dirk

firewall issue

Hello everyone, I am setting up a new system for use as a testing/demo/trial-and-error system. I have installed CentOS 4.4 on it. There is not an X-environment, so I will need to fix this from the command line (via ssh access). I am trying to do an nfs export from this box to another on my internal home network. I have figured out that it is a firewall issue on the CentOS box (I turn off the CentOS firewall and the mount works). My problem is that I am not sure how to resolve this. I have not done any configuration with iptables before. In the file /etc/sysconfig/iptables are the lines: -A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 2049 -j ACCEPT -A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m udp -p udp --dport 2049 -j ACCEPT and there are not any deny lines above these. I think those lines were added when I ran system-config-securitylevel-tui. Those are the only lines that I can find that mention port 2049 or nfs. Those lines look to me like they are for accepting incoming connections only. Is that correct? What do I need to do so that I can do the nfs export out of this box? -- Doug Registered Linux User #285548 (http://counter.li.org) ---------------------------------------- Random Thought: no maintenance: Impossible to fix.
