The directory http://mirror.centos.org/centos-3/3.4/updates/x86_64/RPMS/ contains i386 packages. I am setting up a local mirror so I was wondering if these packages are required? kernel recompile - make modules_install fails.

I'm trying to recompile the kernel on a CentOS4 (final) 2.6.9 kernel. I tried two different approaches and both fail at the same place : 1. downloaded kernel-sources.2.6.9...rpm 2. downloaded kernel.2.6.9....src.rpm in both cases I've been able to go through : make oldconfig make menuconfig make bzImage make modules however when I run make modules_install I get this error : ln: when making multiple links, last argument must be a directory make: *** [_modinst_] Error 1 if I do make -d modules_install it goes through some stuff and finally shows this: No need to remake target `Makefile'. Question on centos4-anaconda.patch

Hi, I was going through the anaconda patch and I have a question. At line 125, when patching kickstart-docs.html, RedHat/base/comps.xml is changed into CentOS/base/comps.xml. No change is made to the fact that the file should be found "on the first Red Hat Enterprise Linux CD-ROM". Would it be more correct to change it to "the first CentOS CD-ROM"? RHN registration

Hi, just installed, CentOS4 from DVD (first CentOS installation), and after first reboot as soon as I log in, I receive a "Subscription Alert" that tells me to activate my subscription to RHN so to keep my system safe. Is this normal that I get on CentOS an invitation to register to Red Hat Network and to download/install RedHat key? Did you ever think about getting rid of this, just think it could be confusing for someone. Just my 1 cent. Have a nice day Simone

Rebuilding suggestions

Hi, for the fun of having my own distro, I am rebuilding from sources and finally am at a good point. My next problem is to find all the trademarks and get rid of them. I already checked some of packages but still have some redhat stuff showing during install process that I can't seem to be able to get rid oft. Can you please indicate me the packages you've worked on while developing CentOS4?
