Interested in IA64 build.

I noticed on the SIG that people interested in other ports of interest. I'd like to express interest in the IA64 port. What is the best way to get started? I have two SGI Itanium 2 based machines. One 64 processor x 64GB SGI Altix and a 32 processor x 32GB RAM SGI Prism. They are currently running CentOS 4.8 and I would love to be able to run CentOS 5.5 on them to get them into compliance with the rest of the cluster. -- James A. Artwork packages for CentOS 6

Hi all, as there are many changes in Anaconda (and not only there) I don't think our old artwork build infrastructure is capable of creating the necessary files. If I should take a look at what needs to be drawn, please point me to the packages/files that needs to be modified. -- Greets Marcus

Hi, there are new drbd83-8.3.9 packages available in the testing repository (4 and 5, i386 and x86_64), if you want to try them out. There shouldn't be a problem to drop those in as a replacement to older drbd83 packages. Regards, Ralph

Artwork for C6

Hi, with the EL6beta2 Refresh, I am going to guess that the rhel6 release isnt far - and one of the things that takes the longest to get sorted out in 'CentOS Lands' is the artwork components. It would be fantastic if we can get some of the centos-artwork packages into the testing repo's by the 15th Aug. So what all do we need in order to get there ? The components we need to start with are the gnome theme, *-artwork packages and *-logos packages. Can we also get a show of hands, on who all are working on these components ? Thanks - KB

EL6 and larger than DVD install media

hi, I am guessing most people have looked at the larger-than-DVD install tree's in the shape of the 'base' and 'optional' repos in rhel6-beta. When it comes to us doing the tree's there are a couple of options, one of which might be to stick with 'base' and 'optional' repositories. But I am fairly sure that Red Hat will productise their tree's into the various varients ( Workstation, Server, Cluster Suite etc ) and drop the 'optional' repo to make things look a lot more like the EL5 tree's. Since we mix all the tree's into one - that creates the issue we have with 5.5/x86_64/DVD1 and DVD2. Not ideal. I have a couple of ideas on this, but would like to hear what everyone else thinks is the best way to handle this. Keep in mind that we want to try to ensure that all kickstart / tools / code written for RHEL should justwork on CentOS ( well, as much as is possible ). - KB

Hi all, I've seen too much people being redirected to www.centos.org/docs while asking something specific in the #centos channel, and sometimes it will fail, just because those people ask for example details about kvm and that kvm isn't included in the 5.2 virtualization guide that is hosted on the centos server. What does need to be done to include newer doc on www.centos.org/docs, that is in-line with the docs available upstream ? For example , i see that Johnny just removed a s"hadow man logo" in the header and a "red hat documentation" link+icon He also added a kind of 'disclaimer' in the footer. Is there something else to be done ? If i consider the 5.5 technical notes that are on the centos docs server, i still see a "shadow man" logo on the first page ... -- -- Fabian Arrotin

hi, yum-3.2.27-12 based on James's build of yum from EL6 on EL5 is now available on the c5-testing repo. Feel free to give it a shot and feedback is very welcome - even if its a case of 'it works'. Updated nx/freenx packages

CentOS devs (perhaps Tru?), I have an updated version of nx/freenx ready. The srpms are: http://centos.toracat.org/misc/nx-freenx/5/SRPMS/freenx-0.7.3-6.el5.centos.… http://centos.toracat.org/misc/nx-freenx/5/SRPMS/nx-3.4.0-6.el5.centos.ay.s… Two tarballs (nxagent and nx-X11) in nx have been update to the current version (as of Sept 2010). One main change done in this update is addition of support for RHEL6(beta). For example, rpmbuild -bb --target x86_64 --define 'dist .el6.centos' --define "centos_ver 6" freenx.spec will build the x86_64 version of freenx for RHEL/CentOS-6. Anyone wishing to give them a try can find the binaries at: http://centos.toracat.org/misc/nx-freenx/6/i386/ http://centos.toracat.org/misc/nx-freenx/6/x86_64/ I have tested them against RHEL 6 beta2 and they seem to work fine.
