Interest in a SIG for logging and monitoring?

Obsolete centos-release-SCL in CentOS-6 with centos-release-scl-rh

Honza, Can you set centos-release-scl-rh (or if more appropriate, centos-release-scl) to obsolete centos-release-SCL in CentOS-6. I have removed the old SCL/ repo in 6.8 and you have newer versions of all packages. Thanks, Johnny Hughes

CentOS 7.2 cloud images for ppc64le

docker and docker-latest packages on CentOS Virt SIG

**CentOS Virt SIG** What: - 'docker' (v1.9) http://cbs.centos.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=10878 - 'docker-latest' (v1.10) http://cbs.centos.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=10881 - both can be installed simultaneously and don't step on each other's toes, but only one can run at a time. - /usr/bin/docker is a script which execs /usr/bin/docker-current (v1.9) or /usr/bin/docker-latest (v1.10) based on what $DOCKERBINARY is set to. [RFC] Operational tools SIG (was logging and monitoring...)

Hello, I would like to re-iterate my interest in having a SIG in CentOS to provide all kinds of tools for operators providing infrastructure by using CentOS. The scope should be more than just simply packaging applications. Another part should be to provide puppet manifests or ansible playbooks to get things quicker up and running. Ideally, I would start with providing something like * elsasticsearch/fluentd/kibana for centralised logging * collectd/graphite/grafana for performance monitoring * sensu/uchiwa for availability monitoring We have already seen around 10 persons interested in helping, testing, trying out and providing feedback. For communcations etc. I would propose to start small, and to share already existent CentOS channels (email-lists, irc-channel). This decision should be revisited, once amount of SIG related communication becomes annoying in general channels. Questions? Thoughts? Additions? Fail to load kernel module ipmi_si on CentOS-6

Hi all, I am trying to load kernel module ipmi_si, while failed with error "No such device", truth is I can find file in ../kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko. So why I can't load it? Link to Red Hat customer portal in yum error message

Hello, I updated my CentOS 6 machine yesterday and it threw this error at me (before I switched to centos-release-scl): http://mirror.centos.org/centos/6/SCL/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] PYCURL ERROR 22 - "The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found" Trying other mirror. To address this issue please refer to the below knowledge base article https://access.redhat.com/articles/1320623 If above article doesn't help to resolve this issue please open a ticket with Red Hat Support. Did you miss this when removing Red Hat branding or is it supposed to say this? - Jitse

The SCL wiki page contents and confusing SCL situation

Hi, I thought I'd start an article on my personal blog on the various options for newer PHP (in particular), python, ruby etc options in CentOS - particularly given some of the base packages in EL6 have now passed EOL upstream and consequently some applications (eg OwnCloud) now have minimal dependencies greater than in base. What I found on initial looks to SCL was at best confusing and in areas outright misleading, with help needed from Dominic in #centos-devel to work through the present SCL situation. Doing a general Google search (or the @scl keyword in #centos) will take someone to here: https://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories/SCL This refers to an old centos-release-SCL package which is still in the repos and would direct the user to unmaintained old versions. The correct package is actually centos-release-scl ... yes just the case needs to change. The documentation for centos-release-scl stuff (ie the CentOS SCL SIG stuff) is pretty much nonexistent for a user needing a newer version of a package. These pages are very CentOS developer focused and not really useful for the end user: https://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup/SCLo https://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup/SCLo/CollectionsList Then once the right package is installed the user can see there is php54, php55 and rh-php56 packages but it's not clear why the difference in the naming and there's nothing that highlights to someone that if they want to use php55 or rh-php56 they'll need to handle a migration to rh-httpd24 as well. I'd suggest the first step is to have centos-release-scl obsolete centos-release-SCL so that users are not left on an unmaintained repository. Then as I gather data for my article I'd really like to flesh out and improve the 'user facing' SCL wiki page. Thoughts on this? James
