time stray on the latest centos release: 2.6.9-11.EL

Hi, The clock on my laptop seems to be straying dramatically from the real time even if I turn off ntpd. Could it be the clock applet itself? After I run rdate with ntpd off, it starts to stray right away. This started in the last two weeks after doing many updates. Has anyone else seen this, or even fixed it? Thanks in advance, Blair.

So nothing on that is going to change. Secondly, Feel free to evaluate what SMEserver are doing w.r.t installer and submit patches for the ServerCD. Also, moving this conversation to the CentOS Developers mailing list, if anyone is interested in following this - subscribe there.

Problems installing compat-postgresql-libs-3-3.c4.centos.x86_64.rpm for x86_64

trying to yum install compat-postgresql-libs from c4-testing results in several dependecy errors. says it needs to install the following packages: e2fsprogs i386 1.35-12.2.EL4 base 770 k glibc i686 2.3.4-2.13 base 5.0 M krb5-libs i386 1.3.4-17 base 478 k openssl i686 0.9.7a-43.4 update 1.1 M zlib i386 1.2.1.2-1.2 base 44 k the x86_64 versions of all these are already installed. centosplus unsupported kernel

Just updated to the new 2.6.9-22.0.2.106.unsupported kernel (don't see an Announce entry yet, but yum sees it) and found an apparently-minor glitch in the gcc version when updating my VMware Workstation kernel module: # vnware-config.pl ... snip ... Using compiler "/usr/bin/gcc". Use environment variable CC to override. Your kernel was built with "gcc" version "3.4.5", while you are trying to use "/usr/bin/gcc" version "3.4.4". This configuration is not recommended and VMware Workstation may crash if you'll continue. Please try to use exactly same compiler as one used for building your kernel. Do you want to go with compiler "/usr/bin/gcc" version "3.4.4" anyway? [no] yes What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? [/lib/modules/2.6.9-22.0.2.106.unsupported/build/include] ... snip ... Despite the warning, the build finishes and VMware seems to work OK so far. Checked testing repo for a gcc update and didn't see one. Phil

New squid-2.5.STABLE11-3 packages available in Centos-Testing for i386 and x86_64

New squid packages for version 2.5.STABLE11-3 are available in the CentOS-Testing repository for the i386 and x86_64 architectures. This package includes several fixes from upstream for DNS lookups, delay pools, FTP response crashes and several others. Please give it a try and remember to report feedback.
