Yesterday evening (Tuesday December 8, 2009) a forum thread [1] was started by Stefan (under the ID of "gigglesworth") relating to the above subjects. As is well known, ELRepo provided the fasttrack packages during the lifetime of CentOS 5.3 but following on from Karanbir's assertion that CentOS will provide the fasttrack packages for 5.4 we, at ELRepo, have stepped down from providing that service. Will CentOS-devs please have a look at the above mentioned thread and then respond, accordingly, to the OP. Regards, Alan. Talk about existing forums

hi guys, One of the things that came up from the last chat about the language specific websites, was that there was no one on that call who actually used the forums. With the help of Akemi, I've been able to setup a meeting for the existing english forum moderators to come together and have a chat about: 1) what we have right now 2) Whats broken 3) whats really good 4) where they would like the forums to be in the next 6 months 5) Where they would like the forums to be in the next 12 months 6) The idea of 'English' as being just another language Its a bit short notice, but the meeting is setup to happen on Wednesday 9th Dec at 2300 UTC. Its the only time that worked for all concerned - in the next few weeks period. Apart from the existing forum moderators, anyone interested in the conversation is more than welcome to come along. Lets all sync up at 22:50 on #centos-devel(a)irc.freenode.net and take it from there. Also, lets try and timebox initial discussion to 40 min with a further 10 min after that to summarise and plan future actions. - KB

Why are Spacewalk packages removed from CentOS?

Hi, severals users of Spacewalk [1] reported that Spacewalk client tools are removed [2] from CentOS (they are present in RHEL). It's about packages: rhn-check rhn-client-tools rhnlib rhnsd rhn-setup rhn-setup-gnome yum-rhn-plugin I dig up in history [3] and find that the reason was probably reference to rhn.redhat.com. Since current Spacewalk (default) configuration should not hit rhn.redhat.com I'm curious if those packages can be put back to CentOS? yum-3.2.8 for Centos 4 backport, part II.

Hi, I have again worked on yum 3.2.8 for Centos 4 today, after a long time. The result is backported package yum-3.2.8-9.el4.hrb.2.1.5 which is the upgrade of yum-3.2.8-9.el4.hrb.2.1.3 I've been using smoothly for quite a long time. Packages are in testing repos: http://fs12.vsb.cz/hrb33/el4/hrb/testing/i386/repodata/ http://fs12.vsb.cz/hrb33/el4/hrb/testing/x86_64/repodata/ I'd like to ask for QA tests. This patched version passes all the internal yum tests (aka 'make test'). Regards, David Hrbáč

Forum Thread -- Relating to the CentOS 5 Testing Repository

Hi, I hoped to use php-5.2 while keeping close to the centos packages (no external repositories). So I tried the packages from http://dev.centos.org/centos/5/testing/i386/RPMS/ . These packages seem to be compiled without mime-magic support (--without-mime-magic). The previous stable php-5.1.6 packages had this mime-magic support enabled. Any reason for this change? is there an add-on rpm packages supplying this support? Just tested php-5.2.10-1.el5.centos, with the same result. Justin

Hi, I hope I am on the good list to ask this, if not I apologize. 5 days ago, Upstream released an errata for the nasty bug that was introduced with selinux-policy-2.4.6-255.el5_4.3, which prevented postfix-driven systems from sending email. http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2010-0063.html https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=555793#c1 I would like to know if the fixed selinux-policy rpm was in the process to be deployed for centos as the lack of it prevent me to update servers. I know that it's bad to ask :( but as Upstream say in the first time "oh you will have to wait for 5.5 for a clean fix", this bug is getting me anxious. Thanks for your work, kfx

Hi, To come back to this thread: THe version that CentOS Testing is providing is a version from 2008: php-5.2.6-2.el5s2.i386.rpm 16-Sep-2008 01:20 1.2M http://dev.centos.org/centos/5/testing/i386/ The latest version from Red Hat is: http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Server/en/RHWAS/SRPMS/ph… Is it possible the CentOS Testing PHP (and perhaps others) packages aren't up to date and people using the CentOS Testing repo have an outdated and vulnerable PHP version running?
