A project calendar

Hi There is quite a lot of stuff going on and not all of it is easily visible to everyone. The way to perhaps address that is to setup a project calendar that people can sync against and look at regularly. And more win if we can have it slightly open ended, allowing people / projects / sig's to contribute events into that cal. To that extent Stephen Smoogen introduced me to Pierre-Yves Chibo who runs the fedocal effort, and they have graciously agreed to set something up for CentOS as well. Stephen I know is on this list already, I've requested Pierre to join ( he might have done so already ). Firstly looking for comments on the idea / plan - and then for options on implemention, publishing and consumption of the calendar. RFC: Alternative Desktop SIG

I would like to put together an alternative desktop sig which will build, qa, and support desktops which are not the Enterprise Linux primary or secondary desktops (GNOME and KDE). There are a couple of ground rules I would like to propose: 1) Any desktop system needs to have 3 sponsors who are people willing to do the work of building RPMS, coordinating user bugs with upstream, and fixing packages. The reason for 3 is a) that this SIG isn't a dumping ground for here is ABC-DE compiled, goodbye. b) that disagreements between sponsors should be deadlock free. c) that when people take vacations, etc there is continuity of operation. 2) Desktops do not keep to Enterprise lifetimes, but major version changes to the desktop need to be announced, tested and released to a schedule. Desktops which don't want to do that will not be part of the SIG. [A schedule does not need to be super detailed, but just alleviate surprise.] 3) Desktops can and will be removed from the SIG if there isn't an interest in keeping them up. This is mainly to cover that if ABC-DE desktop no longer has sponsors, other members of the SIG aren't obliged to support ABC-DE if they don't want to. 4) Some level of governance needs to be established so that there is a committee that can make sure that a desktop has 'sponsors', that it is not just code thrown over a wall and left, and that users are not left surprised when updates to the desktop occur. They may also make up packaging rules and guidelines as needed to alleviate problems that come up. As this is an RFC, these are just proposed rules to be solidified when the CentOS board considers the SIG. -- Stephen J Smoogen.

OpenNebula Variant and Cloud SIG proposals

Given that there are at least two other projects keen to make this happen, it would be great if the Cloud SIG could be a single multicloud target. -- Hello, I'm Jaime Melis from the OpenNebula project [1]. We have been involved with CentOS for the past year making a stable Cloud Management Platform [2]. I would like to hereby propose a new CentOS variant, namely the OpenNebula variant. This variant would add three roles to the CentOS installation: * OpenNebula Frontend * OpenNebula Node KVM * OpenNebula Node Xen The work for the Frontend and Node KVM roles has been completed and is ready to be released. The Node Xen role is still in progress although close to being finished. This work should take place under the Cloud SIG umbrella, which right as of now doesn't exist, so I would like to also propose the creation of this group with the aim of making the major cloud platforms work wth Centos. Secure Boot in RHEL7beta

RHEL 7 beta can be installed on systems with 'Secure Boot' enabled as seen in the Installation Guide [1]. Issue with 32-bit build of devtoolset 1.1?

I'm trying to build ODB on RHEL 5 32-bit and I get some linker errors. Storage SIG Moving Forward

Now that the Storage SIG has been (mostly) ratified, I wanted to start looking forward. We are already started on some of the simple first steps; so giving a little time to have a few tasks under our belt (and give people a chance to wrap their head around the tasks ahead) we're aiming for the first SIG meeting to be on: 04-Apr @ 15:00 UTC. Anyone who is interested in attending please let me know before then and I'll make sure you're added to the invite. Our current plan is to just keep it simple w/ a Google Hangout (not on-air) so if we grow beyond 10 we'll need to know beforehand. In this meeting we'll be discussing the following: * Infrastructure plans (repositories, lists, etc) * Form & Function (who does what, how repos are handled) * Rough roadmap (what to accomplish when) * Identify potential additions to SIG (have Ceph&Gluster, anyone else?) * Any other ideas/questions that may come up If you have any questions in the meantime feel free to reply here, or hit me directly via email (patrick(a)inktank.com) or on IRC (scuttlemonkey). Recompiling the Kernel for CentOS 6.5

Hi, I am working on CentOS 6.5 which has 2.6.32-431 kernel. I have a problem with my driver and I need to enable Kernel-Memory leak in the kernel for which I will have to recompile the kernel. I get the kernel source tree from the the source rpm for my running kernel from below link- http://vault.centos.org/6.5/updates/Source/SPackages/kernel-2.6.32-431.11.2… and I try to build the kernel according to the below link on CentOS Wiki - http://www.centos.org/docs/rhel-sag-en-3/s1-custom-kernel-modularized.html according to which it tells me , after make menuconfig( and customizing my configuration), I need to follow the following steps- 1. make bzImage 2. make modules 3. make modules_install 4. make install but I get errors in the first step only-(make bzImage) Kindly suggest me as to what I am doing wrong.
