time stray on the latest centos release: 2.6.9-11.EL

Hi, The clock on my laptop seems to be straying dramatically from the real time even if I turn off ntpd. Could it be the clock applet itself? After I run rdate with ntpd off, it starts to stray right away. This started in the last two weeks after doing many updates. Has anyone else seen this, or even fixed it? Thanks in advance, Blair.

So nothing on that is going to change. Secondly, Feel free to evaluate what SMEserver are doing w.r.t installer and submit patches for the ServerCD. hi & submission of updated initscripts rpm

hi all, this is the first time I've contributed to a distro that is not my own, so if I'm doing something the "wrong way", please do inform me. :-) Briefly about me - I'm interested in becoming involved in helping to develop CentOS (such as removing RH trademarks from new packages, and adding extra packages.) I have experience with developing distros, from when I developed my own distro called "Jedo Linux". http://www.jethrocarr.com/index.php?page=projects/jedolinux/jedolinux.php In regards to the other subject of this email, I've made a modified version of the initscript package. This adds support for using dm-crypt encrypted filesystems on boot. It allows encrypted swap, and encrypted storage directories. However, it's not really designed for having an encrypted root filesystem (although it could possibly be adapted without too much hassle). I have a source RPM available here: http://www.jethrocarr.com/packages/SRPMS/initscripts-7.93.24.EL-1.1.1.cento… Basicly, I've added written a patch for initscripts, and made a couple of minor changes to the spec file. I wasn't sure what to name it, so I added a .1 and my name to the release name. firefox-1.5.0.2-2.1.c4.centos.i386.rpm in the testing repo produces this error when running it as non-rrot and also as root Firefox could not install this item because "install.rdf" (provided by the item) is not well formed or does not exist. Please contact the author about this problem. How to reproduce this message :- 1. download and upgrade firefox-1.5.0.2-2.1.c4.centos.i386.rpm from the testing repo 2. erase the previous firefox 1.5.0.1 from centosplus and install the new one. Missing binary packages for CentOS 4.3 openCryptoki and iprutils?

This is a resend of a message from last month which got no response.... iprutils and openCryptoki have source rpms in the CentOS 4.3 / RHEL4u3 update, but there don't appear to be any corresponding binaries. These appear to be new packages in the update (not there before u3, unless I'm confused). Any idea what's going on here? CentOS mkinitrd support for dmraid

Hello, Here is a patch to mkinitrd that enables dmraid initialization during init. I developed it to enable proper initialization of LVM partitions hosted on dmraid based software RAID. dmraid initrd initialization can be optionally turned off by passing --omit-dmraid command line key to mkinitrd. My changes are tested on CentOS 4.1 2.6.9-11.EL kernel. Hopefully this may be useful to people with similar software/hardware configurations. Can someone suggest/clarify if there is anything else I could/should do to make this patch helpful to as many people as possible and ideally make it part of CentOS distribution? freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm is in testing

We have created a new version of freenx (freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch.rpm) and moved it to the testing repo. This is based on the code displayed at the LWE in San Francisco ... http://lwn.net/Articles/146825/ http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8489 (though it is not officially released as stable by the freenx people) This version should handle printing and reconnecting to running sessions much better. Running sessions (on the nx server, that is the machine you are connecting to) are stored in "/var/lib/nxserver/db/running" ... if you have been disconnected in the past, there may be several old sessions out there that need to be cleaned up ... go remove the sessions that are invalid (all of them in that directory if you do not have any open sessions to that server). There is no real auto cleanup of these if your session breaks ... I will try to develop something that works later. In the meantime, if you session list is to big and some are dead, you will have to delete them manually. This version also allows rootless mode, which is faster compression.
