Installing both x86_64 and i386 RPMS on a x86_64 system

I have my own internal customised installation tree for CentOS 4 that is used for installs over NFS - I've added extra RPMS to my x86_64 distro and updated comps.xml and re-generated the hdlist files. This works fine in most cases - except when I have both x86_64 and i386 versions of the same RPM - only the x86_64 package gets installed (or if there is only an i386 RPM, then this gets installed OK). I know this works fine for x86_64/i386 RPMS that are part of the default distro, so I'm obviously missing something somewhere ... Anyone know how I make sure both x86_64 and i386 RPMS get installed? problemas con freenx y nx en centos4.4

Hola estoy tratando de administrar un servidor linux remoto desde mi linux local, hasta ahora me habia contentado con el acceso a la consola pero ahora necesito usar herramientas graficas .... que incluyen un navegador bien, se dice que NX es el mejor así que alla fui :-) despues de un dia de romperme la cabeza pensando como es que se usa el freenx y el nx, decidí bajar el nxclient de nomachine jejeje y me pude conectar, y es ahora donde viene mi duda-problema cuando levanto una conexion nx con el cliente remoto (mi maquina local es el server segun la conexion NX) mi interfase kde se pone practicamente inutilizable, casi es como si mi interfase kde fuera la remota y ni siquiera eso, se pone más lenta aun, imposible de usar el menu kde!!! y eso me pasa cuando levanto una session kde remota o cuando solo levanto una aplicacion, por ejemplo el firefox, konqueror o konsole. De hecho se pone más lento el ambiente cuando levando una sola aplicacion que cuando levanto el entorno remoto completo. y lo interesante es que es solo el ambiente, las aplicaciones que estan corriendo local siguen igual de bien, se navega igual de bien por mis ventanas firefox , las ventanas del konsole funcionan y responden a la velocidad normal; es solo el ambiente-entorno kde quien se pone sin responder.... alguien tiene una idea de eso? la configuracion del NX es más o menos así: freenx+nx en la parte remota nxclient en la parte local como aliviantar esto? como cosa curiosa, haciendo un rdestop-1.5 hacia un windows que está al lado del linux que trato de administrar no afecta mi linux :-), y la respuesta en velocidad es identica al nx ..... un windowsero podría hacerme pasar un mal rato ..... jejejejejejeje cu roger __________________________________________ RedHat Certified Engineer ( RHCE ) Cisco Certified Network Associate ( CCNA ) ____________________________________________________________________________________ Now that's room service! Zero day updates upstream

hi guys, Something to talk about while we prep C-5 for release... There were some packages that were updated along with release, I can imagine this was since the tree must have been frozen a while before actual release upstream. However, we dont have that problem - the tree hasent been released. So, what does everyone thing ? Should we release the tree with the updates rolled in ? or should we release the tree exactly as upstream did, and also provide the updates to go alongside - but in the updates repo ? One thing that I would be very hesitant to update would be the kernel, since updating that would imply updating the installer kernel as well. Which is going to cause lots of issues since its known that vendors and support people will ask for specific kernels at specific times ( eg. installed with x.y.z and 5.0.0 ) - KB -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219@icq

CentOS 5 Devel problems with initial setup

Just installed CentOS 5 Beta. During install I selected no ipv6 support (not sure if that anything to do with it). After install, the initial setup screen, I changed authentication to use LDAP, then I tried to go into firewall setup and it hung. I had to reboot to try again...
