Upgrade xarchiver to 0.51?

Hello, I know that CentOS is an Enterprise Distribution and normaly doesn't upgrade packages. But I'd like to ask if there could be an exception to the xarchiver package from CentOS Extras. The reason I ask is that CentOS Extras provides an svn snapshot of 0.49 but currently there is 0.5x released. Anaconda Slides Translation

Would you like to have the same design over all CentOS versions or the possibility of having different designs for different versions ? Also, versions are another thing I would like to touch. a post-build test harness

Hi, One of the things that I'd like to get working sometime is a proper post-build test harness for rpm's. At the moment, what we do is quite basic, along with rpmdiff and some comparison tools we do a string of bash-written script tests. There must be another way of doing this, a sort of rpm::unit, for the lack of a better name, but modelled on Rspec. To illustrate : For Pkg in PackageList: { ensure Pkg.SIGGPG => present; }; Makes sure that Packages we are testing are signed, I guess it could also be ensure=> 'blahblah'; to make sure its signed with a specific key. A more complex test might be to make sure that content in multilib pkgs match for overlapping content + multilib acceptable content. An even more complex test might be to make sure any rpm that drops an init script also has a chkconfig stanza in the %post / %pre ( as an example ). The first step would, of course, be to look at doing this per package, and then growing it to work with multiple packages ( eg. doing things like : TestPackage: { ensure latest in -> http://mirror.centos.org/centos/updates/i386/ } ; to make sure that this new package does indeed provide an higher EVR than whatever is in the repo at the end of that url. And having this harness pass or fail depending on the test outcome. Perhaps this is not the right list, but most of the people who would end up using this or having to live with me forcing them to use it are on this list... so I thought this would be a good place to start. debuginfo repo and debuginfo-install

Instructions on rebuilding the CentOS 5 installer?

Are there any docs on how to rebuild the CentOS 5 installer? I've been doing this for CentOS 4 based on the script at <http://centos.hughesjr.com/testing/build.sh.txt> - but I now need to do something similar with CentOS 5 ... Thanks James Pearson

s390 SIG

I've been working on a few things over the last 2 months, many of which were just a case of pushing things around and getting more organised internally. But some tasks should bring out more productive and visible changes all around. I hope. First thing to come from that is the possibility of a s390 SIG, made up from a few people who have access to real s390 kit, who would work together and help get a C5 build out. Pasi, who maintains s390 on C3/C4 has previously expressed no desire in following up with the C5 side of things, also access to real iron kept getting in the way. So, and oops for short notice, some of us are going to get together later in the day today on #centos-devel and talk about this SIG. Anyone / everyone interested should join in. We expect to kick off at 21:00 UTC today, 19th Nov 2008. - KB

CentOS 5.x for Sparc?

Long ago, there was a CentOS build for Sparc under version 4.2 Beta. I checked for the torrents for either the DVD and CD binary or source isos, but no one is seeding that anymore as well. The old Sparc 4.2 beta repo was found here: http://beta.centos.org/centos/4.2beta/isos/sparc/ ... but that doesn't have enough information to even attempt a netinstall or a tftp/rarpd boot/install. Then just recently, I saw this CentOS announcement/post: "We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of CentOS-5.2 for the i386 and x86_64 Architectures. [...] Further Arch support for PowerPC, IA64 and Sparc are planned and will be released soon. These arch's will follow the existing pattern of release to Beta first, and then to Final." xenpv drivers status

I wonder if anyone can check what is to become of the xenpv drivers that were recently released ( ref: https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHEA-2008-0274.html ) They were not included on the 5.2 media...
