Any update on CentOS HPC ?

I have noticed that there were some discussions on CentOS HPC in Oct, http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-devel/2008-October/003624.html http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-devel/2008-October/003515.html Is there any update? When can we get a test version? Sorry if I missed anything. Thanks Ryan -- FIXME if it is wrong.

rubygems rpm spec file

I built the following rpm. It requires ruby and ruby-libs to build. As a long time user of Slackware, I am very pleased that some of my friends directed me to centos. I needed to upgrade my workstation from 10.2 for security reasons and in all future versions of slackware, they got rid of gnome. Hu Laurence, I stopped by the Platform booth this afternoon and had a nice discussion with Gabor about the relationship between Kusu and the RHEL HPC channel. Gabor mentioned that the current process sees Platform pushing SRPMs to Red Hat for building, validation, and eventual publishing via their HPC channel. Please correct me if I'm wrong, guys :) It sounds like we are all still waiting on Red Hat to release their source packages on the FTP site. Due to the nature of the partnership, Platform cannot provide us with the SRPMs - they have to come from RH. It sounded like the folks at Platform might be able to poke some people to make this happen at little sooner? Once this happens, the next step would probably be to set up an HPC project and SIG on the CentOS website, and start building / testing the packages. Once the packages look stable, perhaps a repo on the mirrors would be appropriate? Regards, -Brandon

CentOS for router product

Hello folks, I have been told by my boss to do a feasability study of using CentOS for our routing product. I have some basic questions regarding CentOS. Please clarify. 1. Is the kernel used by CentOS pre-emptible/non-preemptible ? 2. Does CentOS allow for assigning of process priorities (e.g in VxWorks task priorities can be set at creation time) 3. Building latest kmods for latest kernel automatically

While i was talking with someone in #centos about drbd, we saw that there was no kmod-drbd82 (nor kmod-drbd) package for the latest and current 5.2 kernel. In fact the last one was for 2.6.18-92.1.10 ... I know that Johnny tested the weak-updates script but what if a new user already using the latest kernel try to install a new module (like for the drbd kmod) ? so it seems a build for every kernel has still to be done but unfortunately that depends on the people who initially build such kmod (for centosplus and extras and that are not in base). Is there a possibility to think about some kind of automated procedure so that each new built kernel (update) package for [updates] triggers a build of corresponding kmods sitting in extras/centosplus ? Submit an rpm.

I've packaged an rpm for rubygems, since I got tired of doing the install manually on my centos server, and I would like to know how to submit it to one of the default repos so that, in the future, I can just yum install it. Does someone here know how best to approach this? Matt

hi, centosM is going to get recycled, with a newer / bigger machine one hopes. Once its back into the loop, I'll post an update email - but in the mean time if you cant get to wiki-m or the other services which were on the machine -> thats why. - KB

Updated xfs-kmod?

I notice that there is a more recent 'test' xfs-kmod for CentOS5/RHEL5 at: <http://sandeen.net/rhel5_xfs/xfs-kmod-0.5-2.2.6.18_88.el5.testing.src.rpm> It looks like this is based on XFS code from the 2.6.25 kernel The SRPM has been there for 6 months, so I was wondering how much testing has been done with the code and CentOS5/RHEL5 ?
