CentOS Directory Server 8.0 (was Redhat Directory Server 8.0)

Dear Sirs, I was planning to offer my help for rebuild Red Hat Directory Server 8.0 for CentOS. But when I wanted to pick last 1.6 OpenJDK this morning, I saw that this job was already done. And moreover, It seems to be ship with all the CentOS artwork. That's Great, so I'll get rid of my own RHDS rebuilt with 1.7 IcedTea and I will test yours today ! JML PS : Johnny you were right and me wrong when I said that Red Hat would keep RHDS closed (even if it's built with proprietary 1.4.2 Java IBM).

Project proposal: CentAS

All, I would like to formally propose a new project for CentOS for inclusion on projects.centos.org: CentAS. The CentAS project aims to provide a free and redistributable version of JBoss which compiles with Red Hat trademark guidelines and policies. Each release will mirror the stable community releases provided by jboss.org, sans trademarked names and logos. The 4.2 branch will be the initial release target. Future considerations include packaging/redistribution within CentOS, as well as the possibility of creating a free and open CentOS Application Stack. rhwas 5 work?

are there people working on getting the rhwas 5 rpms builtup for centosplus 5? the gophp5 people are starting to have an impact and drupal users are wanting php 5.2, which i was surprised to see in the rhwas srpms directory. the users might even be willing to be testers since they're on a virtual server.

CentOS and JBoss

All, (The company which I work for has authorized me to engage the CentOS community and make a proposal with regard to a whitebox JBoss distribution.) OCI currently provides support for JBoss and other related technologies. During the course of our work, we are now finding it difficult to manage patches between releases without rolling our own distribution. We also have several clients who need to re-distribute in their own products. I'm sure most of you are familiar with certain policies which prevent the JBoss name from being used for redistribution. So my proposal is this: I would like to propose a new open source project (a sister project, if you will) which aims at providing a CentOS analogue to JBoss: CentAS. This project will be commercially sponsored by OCI (in terms of manpower to create the distribution). Everything free, everything open, and most definitely no trademark restrictions. Mainly we are concerned with the JBoss source only, but this certainly opens up some doors for packaging/distribution within CentOS, leading perhaps to an open alternative to Red Hat's application.
