Help with 5.2

I am currently using CentOS 5.1 on my dual quad-core E5450 workstation and am willing to test 5.2 on this system. I even have a swappable boot/system drive that I can put it on so I can revert to 5.1 as necessary simply by swapping out the drive. William Boyle Application Frameworks and Systems, Inc.

Volunteering for CentOS

Hello I recently saw a blog that gave me the idea to volunteer for CentOS http://misterd77.blogspot.com/2008/05/centos-52.html and I was wondering if the CentOS community had any work that I could help with. I could help with testing and recompiling the packages, but I'm open to any suggestions and if you have any work you need help with thats within my abilities, I -- Ubuntu, an African word meaning Slackware is too hard for me

CentOS 5.2 todo list

Hi, There are a couple of things mentioned during the release of 5.1 that would be nice if they could be integrated into 5.2. These are (in random order) : - Update the content of the slides (and translate them) I don't remember what exactly people would like to have changed or who it was that mentioned it. But anyway, the time is now if we would like the slides updated. So speak up :-) - Add the updates repo (in the same list as the extra repo) By default at the Updates repo to the Anaconda installer like it currently is for the Extras repo. So people that have a internet connection during install can have updated packages already installed. - Provide a CentOS png to be displayed on the top of the cube (bug #2633) When using compiz make sure there is a CentOS logo on the 3D cube when changing desktops. So the question then is, do we like to do these and if so who is going to do them ? CentOS mailing list for job offers

Developers, developers, developers ... We had a short discussion about "How to offer jobs / How to search for people who know CentOS" within the existing CentOS infrastructure. We dismissed the idea of putting a "Jobs forum" at <http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/>, neither did we want a section on the web site which would have to be cared about by some sort of editorial staff. (Note: We can still discuss about that) What we thought about is a CentOS-jobs mailing list to which you can send a mail when you want to offer a job in which CentOS plays a role. Some (rather unsorted) thoughts which came up: - Do we also want people to be able to search for jobs (my opinion: No) - should that list be moderated (my opinion: Yes - by maybe more than one person) - Which standards do we need for a job to be posted there? That helps weeding out some "get criminal quick" schemes or other snowball schemes. - Do we want an unmoderated discussion list besides that for discussing about job offers - like on Usenet (my opinion: No, that really is a way for quick and lasting flame fests) And the biggest questions: Do we need that all? Do you have another vision of how we can do those job offerings within our infrastructure? Do you have experiences with stuff like that? Do *you* want to moderate that list (or at least help with that)? Discuss. I'd be particularly interested in the standards for job offerings. Cheers, Ralph
