Hi, Earlier in the evening today Ralph, Fabian and I had a chat about the present state of the language subsites. This email sort of summarises the main issue ( s/w ). We seem to have run into a slight technical hitch with punbb/fluxbb. They dont support LDAP as a backend. And we had decided a few months back that all new rollouts must have ldap backend so we can rollin CentOS-DS / openldap based backend. So we need to look at alternatives, and since the primary focus of these international sites is going be forums : Here is a shortlist ( if there is anything else that people are aware of, please add to this list ) - phpBB - SMF - Fudforum - phorum - fluxbb Requirements: - Must be able to scale ( couple of hundred thousand msgs ) - Must be able to handle ldap auth ( if it cant, whats involved in writing the ldap-auth portion ) - Must address the specific requirements raised by the present www.centos.org forum users ( Can you please fill this section in ? ) - Must support all languages we need ( pure utf8 support would be good ) - Secure - Skin'able Nice to have: - Capable of running multiple instances from a single deployment - responsive community :D Things we will need to do: - Decide on what s/w to use. - Give the ArtWork people enough time to get the look & feel sorted. - Migrate newbb forums from www.centos.org to $system ( hey, english is a language too :D ). - Migrate fr.centos.org into the final s/w - setup {de/es/ja/it/pt_br}.centos.org Actions: Ralph and Fabian are going to work on setting up a test ldap server, once that is online we will then start by installing into our test-vm-farm the various s/w to eval them. If anyone would like to help, please feel free to jump right in. CentOS 5.3 ETA?

Hi, just a question on whether there is a known ETA for it. The reason I'm asking is that I accidentially removed some 5.2. kernel support from ATrpms (not for the 5.2 plus kernels, just the vendor ones) and if 5.3 would take longer I would rebuild the erased bits. drbd modules for recent centos 4.x kernel updates

Greetings. It seems the drbd modules are still not present for recent update kernels for CentOS 4.x. ;( See: http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=3291 Any idea when they might be available? Or is work being done to make them non kernel specific as has been done in CentOS 5.x? Thanks for any info... kevin

ECCN and CentOS

hi, Over the last few months we have been repeatedly been asked about ECCN and CentOS and how things work work for companies/governments etc. The usual response is: were not your lawyers, speak to your lawyers. Hi, I guess there's missing package within the update repository. As we have openssl-0.9.7a-43.17.el4_6.1.i386.rpm 18-Nov-2007 21:54 1.1M openssl-0.9.7a-43.17.el4_6.1.i586.rpm 18-Nov-2007 22:59 1.1M openssl-0.9.7a-43.17.el4_6.1.i686.rpm 18-Nov-2007 22:59 1.1M in the base repo. TOMOYO enabled kernels for CentOS

Hello. I'm an author of TOMOYO Linux, access control extension for Linux kernel. TOMOYO Linux 2.x is now in security-testing-2.6.git tree and will be included into upstream sooner or later. http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/jmorris/security-testing-2.6.git;… I'm also maintaining RPM packages for CentOS 3.9/4.7/5.2 . I'm ready to support kernel-2.6.18-128.el5 as soon as CentOS 5.3 gets released. (1) TOMOYO can't be built as a kernel module, and will break kabi compatibility checking. Is it possible to add "a rebuilt kernel with added drivers and filesystem support" which breaks kabi compatibility checking into CentOS repository? (2) I'm everytime manually patching .spec file and rebuilding RPM package. This causes some delays between the CentOS's kernel release and TOMOYO enabled kernel release. To be able to release updates as soon as possible, I will be happy if an automated build environment is available. Can I release updates sooner than now? (3) Whose GPG key is used for signing "modules in TOMOYO enabled kernel RPM package" and "TOMOYO enabled kernel RPM packages"? Regards.
