forums + portal for {lang}.centos.org sites

Hi, Earlier in the evening today Ralph, Fabian and I had a chat about the present state of the language subsites. This email sort of summarises the main issue ( s/w ). We seem to have run into a slight technical hitch with punbb/fluxbb. They dont support LDAP as a backend. And we had decided a few months back that all new rollouts must have ldap backend so we can rollin CentOS-DS / openldap based backend. So we need to look at alternatives, and since the primary focus of these international sites is going be forums : Here is a shortlist ( if there is anything else that people are aware of, please add to this list ) - phpBB - SMF - Fudforum - phorum - fluxbb Requirements: - Must be able to scale ( couple of hundred thousand msgs ) - Must be able to handle ldap auth ( if it cant, whats involved in writing the ldap-auth portion ) - Must address the specific requirements raised by the present www.centos.org forum users ( Can you please fill this section in ? ) - Must support all languages we need ( pure utf8 support would be good ) - Secure - Skin'able Nice to have: - Capable of running multiple instances from a single deployment - responsive community :D Things we will need to do: - Decide on what s/w to use. - Give the ArtWork people enough time to get the look & feel sorted. - Migrate newbb forums from www.centos.org to $system ( hey, english is a language too :D ). - Migrate fr.centos.org into the final s/w - setup {de/es/ja/it/pt_br}.centos.org Actions: Ralph and Fabian are going to work on setting up a test ldap server, once that is online we will then start by installing into our test-vm-farm the various s/w to eval them. If anyone would like to help, please feel free to jump right in. php-mcrypt 5.2.6 test repo

Hello all, I ve been using php 5.2.6 from the testing repo for a month now and everything works fine. The only thing is I cant find php-mcrypt for 5.2.6 from the testing repo. phpmyadmin is saying that is missing but php-mcrypt from the base repo is installed. Thanks, Adam

I had a look at the testing repo. Is it right there is only a fraction of RHWAS rebuild? Once packages are to stable will they go into plus or will there a rhwas repo? Resigning from the CentOS project

Hi, It was not an easy decision and I feel sad for having to take it, but I decided to resign from the CentOS project. I hope the team can fix the project's leadership, communication and transparancy issues (even within the team), because each is very important for the health of the CentOS community. And while I will be no longer part of the team, I still feel deeply involved as a user and advocate. My resignation feels also like a personal failure because I failed to change those things that I still believe to be important. It's sad day if you have to conclude that resigning is the best option and this will take some time to heal. missing src.rpm

hi, it seems for me that mcelog and libipathverbs src.rpm missing from 5.3's base on the mirror sites. and also strange that the binary rpms for this packages are only in x86_64 but not in i386. yours. -- Levente "Si vis pacem para bellum!"

Howto change arch for FirebirdSS rpm

Hello I have this problem: I make my own php rpms, base on src.rpm from CentOS but with my patches (more options included). I have built it on my machine originally but now I want make it in mock environment. I solved almost everything but Firebird support for 64bit arch. Original RPM from http://www.firebirdsql.org/ are made with amd64 arch but my php is x86_64. And I don't know how to solve it. .src.rpm for FirebirdSS and/or FirebirdCS is on available. I have this section in .spec %if %{with_interbase} %package interbase Group: Development/Languages Prereq: php = %{version}-%{release}, perl Summary: A Sybase/MSSQL database module for PHP. Provides: php_database # BuildPrereq: /usr/include/gds.h /usr/include/ibase.h # BuildPrereq: /usr/include/iberror.h /usr/include/ib_util.h # BuildPrereq: FirebirdCS >= 1.5.0 # "AutoReqProv: yes" don't work because of fault in Firebird RPMs # # AutoReqProv: no # BuildPrereq: FirebirdSS >= 1.5.0 # # Requires: /usr/lib/libgds.so %ifarch i386 i486 i586 i686 BuildPrereq: FirebirdSS >= 1.5.0 %endif %ifarch x86_64 BuildPrereq: FirebirdSS.amd64 >= 2.0.1 %endif But mock failed with this: DEBUG util.py:256: No Package Found for FirebirdSS.amd64 >= 2.0.1 │54 I don't how to include amd64 arch rpm to my x86_64 repository. (my repo: http://ftp-hk.tmapy.cz/tmapy-twist/centos/4/os/x86_64/RPMS/) I think there are two possible solution, rebuilt Firebird rpm with different arch or include amd64 to x86_64 repository. Do you how to make it? My questions: 1. Can I reconstruct .src.rpm from binary rpm or change arc in binary arch? How? 2. How to include amd64 arch rpm to my x86_64 repository? wrong iscsi-initiator-utils version in updates?

hi, there is an iscsi-initiator-utils-6.2.0.868-0.18.el5.src.rpm in 5.3 base and also in updates with exactly the same version number (and of course there are also i386 and x86_64 packages with the same version number). imho it's a bug our faulty copied files. -- Levente "Si vis pacem para bellum!"
