Status of rhn packages in CentOS

Hey everyone.. I have a question about the rhn packages that you remove from upstream: rhn-check rhn-client-tools rhnlib rhnsd rhn-setup rhn-setup-gnome yum-rhn-plugin Are there any plans to include these packages in future releases? It would be really good to have them as we could register CentOS clients to Spacewalk without any problems. Currently a workaround is needed. Best regards. Siggi

drbd83 update + no kmod update = broken server

How to rebuild kernel-2.6.18-164.el5.src.rpm from RHEL 5.4?

Hi, as RHEL 5.4 came out a few days ago I thought I could rebuilt just a few components to get my own 'preview' of kvm on CentOS 5.3 until there is the official CentOS 5.4. A couple of base libraries (e.g. log4cpp, qspice, ...) where really easy to rebuilt from Red Hat's source rpms but I failed to rebuild the kernel using: mock -r epel-5-x86_64 --rebuild kernel-2.6.18-164.el5.src.rpm Using mock on a Fedora 10 build host, this is the error message: + make -s ARCH=x86_64 INSTALL_MOD_PATH=/var/tmp/kernel-2.6.18-164.el5-root modules_install KERNELRELEASE=2.6.18-164.el5 make: *** No rule to make target `modules_install'. Stop. Did anyone succeed in rebuilding the RHEL 5.4 kernel already? fs

why php5.2 still is not of part of centos5.3?

Hello, I do not have any problem with Centos5.3, in 32bits and 64bits servers. For so long time. A lot of famous CMS, CRM and Shopping Cart already requesting >= PHP5.2. CentOS Plus: Valuable or wasted resource?

Is CentOS Plus really necessary? The reason I ask is it seems it is there to provide additional kernel modules not included in the base repo that could be added to 'extras' as kmods. Now I know there are some who would like to boot off of fireware drives and such, but is it worth the development effort having a separate kernel tree that, frankly is always behind, needs extra resources to maintain and offers little over standalone kernel modules? The resources and time that go into maintaining CentOS Plus could go into improving and maintaining the few add-on kernel modules and keeping up with security and bug updates. Let outside repos provide custom kernels. Well that is my .02. -Ross

Extra PHP 5.2.9 packages available in testing

Hi, The 5.2.9 PHP packages available in the testing repo are missing some extra components that upstream does not build. For the normal PHP 5.1.6 this was solved by packages in Extras or other 3th party repos. But for the 5.2.9 PHP there were missing until know. I've just build them and they are available in the testing repo (http://dev.centos.org/centos/5/testing). The provided extra packages are php-tidy, php-readline, php-mssql, php-mcrypt, php-mhash and php-dbase. A warning, there are untested packages. So I would really appreciate if people could test these new packages and let us know if they work or not. Centos 5 on s390

Hello, I'm interrested in having Centos 5 on s390, but I noticed it's not yet available. I'm wondering if I can recompile the sources myself by one of these procedure: 1. Cross Compiling for s390 architecture 2. Installing a Centos 4 inside Hercules emulator, and recompiling sources in this emulated Centos. Hi! CentOS Artwork - preview #2 is here for you to evaluate and consider. It is based on Modern motif and community suggestions: http://wiki.centos.org/ArtWork/Preview-2 In order to keep things simple, could we change the "one different artistic motif by major release" model to "the same artistic motif in all releases" ? With this, it would be easier to propagate artwork improvements to all distributions and the overall CentOS visual identity (as product) would be uniform and coherent. There is an issue with 14 colors indexed images (Ex. that in grub splash) and the CentOS symbol colors. When building these images, the resulting colors in CentOS symbol is different from those in images with no color limitation. I tried to crate a GIMP palette with the correct CentOS Symbol colors, and apply it when indexing them but the final 14 colors image shows lot of noise when is loaded at boot time. Does anyone knows how this could be fixed ? Ralph: would you still want to have more anaconda slides ? In the past I have been a member of the CentOS QA Team. Because of less available time available, I made the decision back than to leave the team. Fortunately, things have settled down in my life. And I am in the position to join the QA Team again, if my seat is still available. Regards, Patrick
