Hi, Earlier in the evening today Ralph, Fabian and I had a chat about the present state of the language subsites. This email sort of summarises the main issue ( s/w ). We seem to have run into a slight technical hitch with punbb/fluxbb. They dont support LDAP as a backend. And we had decided a few months back that all new rollouts must have ldap backend so we can rollin CentOS-DS / openldap based backend. So we need to look at alternatives, and since the primary focus of these international sites is going be forums : Here is a shortlist ( if there is anything else that people are aware of, please add to this list ) - phpBB - SMF - Fudforum - phorum - fluxbb Requirements: - Must be able to scale ( couple of hundred thousand msgs ) - Must be able to handle ldap auth ( if it cant, whats involved in writing the ldap-auth portion ) - Must address the specific requirements raised by the present www.centos.org forum users ( Can you please fill this section in ? ) - Must support all languages we need ( pure utf8 support would be good ) - Secure - Skin'able Nice to have: - Capable of running multiple instances from a single deployment - responsive community :D Things we will need to do: - Decide on what s/w to use. - Give the ArtWork people enough time to get the look & feel sorted. - Migrate newbb forums from www.centos.org to $system ( hey, english is a language too :D ). - Migrate fr.centos.org into the final s/w - setup {de/es/ja/it/pt_br}.centos.org Actions: Ralph and Fabian are going to work on setting up a test ldap server, once that is online we will then start by installing into our test-vm-farm the various s/w to eval them. If anyone would like to help, please feel free to jump right in. I noticed on the SIG that people interested in other ports of interest. I'd like to express interest in the IA64 port. What is the best way to get started? I have two SGI Itanium 2 based machines. One 64 processor x 64GB SGI Altix and a 32 processor x 32GB RAM SGI Prism. They are currently running CentOS 4.8 and I would love to be able to run CentOS 5.5 on them to get them into compliance with the rest of the cluster. -- James A. LibreOffice for CentOS-6 Test and Feedback

hi guys, NuxRo has offered to maintain a LibreOffice rpm set for CentOS-6-Extras; A test build is now available at http://dev.centos.org/centos/6/testing/ Feedback at http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=5117 or here on the list. Remember that these rpms wont move into the main CentOS repos till such time as there is significant feedback about, it works. And little or no feedback saying its broken. As this is also the first rpm into the c6/testing repo, feedback is also welcome about how we can improve the process. Regards, - KB

I would like to say a big "Thank you" to all of the developers of CentOS!! Especially since TUV released V6 it seems to have gotten a lot harder for you people in providing the community with this great OS (including but not limited to a lot of heat in the mailing lists). Thanks for carrying on! CentOS6 made my life at work much easier. I'm moving some 30+ machines (primary function iptables-Firewalling) from OpenSuSE to C6, so I won't have to do a major distro upgrade every 18 months. Since the first deployment of C6 starting this summer, it worked like a charm. Of course, I only use a very limited set of its features (basically "minimal desktop" is enough), but the long term support counts! Also the ps performance toolkit - which is based on C5 - works great, part to you guys providing the OS. The work you do is very much appreciated! Keep it up. cheers Christoph

Mock SCM Issue

CentOS 6.0 + CR vs RHEL 6.1 differences: flac

Hello, trying to replicate a rh el 6.1 configuration to a CentOS 6.0+CR. Original upstream server was installed in 6.0 and then updated gradually up to 6.1 and other packages (up to about first days of October). It is registered to additional channels such as High Availability, Resilient Storage. Where does kdewebdev come from?

Hi, As kdewebdev wasn't a package of CentOS or Fedora EPEL, I rebuilt for my CentOS 6 the Fedora master branch several weeks ago. And last week, when I updated my CentOS with the CR repo, I got a kdewebdev-3.5.10-14.el6.x86_64 package. But where does come from this package? Regards Alain

Feedback for fpaste-VERSION in c5-testing. Unable to test -i/--clipin, -o/--clipout, or --selection as I do not run X. All other options tested and all seem fine with the exception of an anomaly with --pasteself. Upon using this option the script successfully pastes itself to fpaste.org and then presents the user with: install fpaste to local ~/bin dir by running: mkdir -p ~/bin; curl http://fpaste.org/8WcN/raw/ -o ~/bin/fpaste && chmod +x ~/bin/fpaste Tested: Pipelines: echo "foo" | fpaste Redirects: fpaste < /path/to/file Files: fpaste /path/to/file stdin: fpaste <^d> All combinations of command line arguments were tested including argument overload. No anomalies / bugs other than that listed above were detected. Can this please get moved into extras soon? Having to point people to epel to install a cli paste client is somewhat annoying. Thanks.
