5.6 nspr packages appear older than 5.5 updates.

A forum user has encountered a problem trying to install nspr-devel. See https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&topic_id=3… The 5.6 versions look older than the 5.5 updates to yum. Attempting to install using CentOS-Vault.repo [C5.5-updates] repo also fails. Looks like tru_tru has noted the issue on #centos-qa. Phil

I've reinstalled and db files were still missing. Then unisntalled and reinstalled and this has fixed the issue. Apart from glibc, the rest are all built and in the release queue ( the src.rpms for the main distro are present seeding through - at a forced slow rate, so as to not overload the already loaded mirror network, these updates will come through right after ). Why not a fusion between CentOS and SL?

Hi all, Please, first of all, I don't want to start a flame about this subject. I only wnat to know CentOS's developers point of view about this particular. Due to the delays that occurs in the release of new CentOS's versions and patches, and because CentOS developers involved in these tasks may not have sufficient time to devote to it (and also make if freely and spending their time), and I think that has been much talk about the whys for users and developers: - Why not a distribution fusion between Scientific Linux and CentOS? - Why not join efforts in the development of a single Enterprise Linux solid distribution based on RHEL? what / how could test reports be published

hi, at the moment all test are run by hand, and people look at the output on the cli. Lets change that. Fabian and I did some work during Fosdem this year to get an automation script in place. This script does : 1) setup some disk space 2) run virt-install with a specific kickstart 3) waits for machine to come back post install boot 4) gets the test scripts onto the machine 5) run each one and track progress. 6) tear down the machine instance. Now the question is : apart from test output, what else would be relevant to track? Here is my list: - install time logs - syscleanup[1] output from before tests are run and after - 'rpm -qa' output What else would be relevant here ? Second part of the issue : What format would everyone like to see these things in ? a) a simple webapp in sinatra.rb or bottle.py ? b) as long as all output is in text, we could shovel test runs into a git repo ( keep in mind that we can end up generating gigs of data per day ). c) something else ? - KB [1]: https://gitorious.org/syscleanup/syscleanup/blobs/master/syscleanup.sh ( I'll pull this into the git repo for QA Testing, so stuff is all in the same place ).

Hi, I've read at Centos Wiki that "ts not possible to contribute a package into the CentOS Mirrors at this time. The entire process and policy around this matter is under review." I'd like to submit a RPM package to CentOS, is that impossible still? Cent OS 5.5 Clustering and Support

Hi, We are a Channel product team within LSI and we are trying to add Cent OS 5.5 to our compatibility Matrix. We found out that LSI currently has a relationship with CentOS for another project on the Internal Storage division but not with the OS Certification team. We require some information on CentOS which will help us plan the deliverables. And considering the timelines we need to deliver at it will be great if someone from CentOS can help us out in this regard. If anybody else also can answer these in the mailing list, we would be grateful. The questions that we have are as follows:- 1) Cluster Support : * Does CentOS 5.5 provides native cluster support ? * Is there any cluster suite available for CentOS 5.5 ? * Can we use the cluster suite in CentOS 4 for 5.5. 2) Does CentOS have any self Certification tool which allows OEMs/Vendors to qualify the OS and post it in their compatibility matrix? One we start our qualification, we might need some help in resolving issues/defects on CentOS. Can we open a channel or Point of contact who will be able to help us out with such issues. Hello, Just today I read in LWN( https://lwn.net/Articles/435744/ ) about the problems with CentOS. I want to offer hardware (build servers) and I also want to volunteer time for cleaning up packages. Is there a page giving some guidelines? How can I start helping ?
