Hi, Earlier in the evening today Ralph, Fabian and I had a chat about the present state of the language subsites. This email sort of summarises the main issue ( s/w ). We seem to have run into a slight technical hitch with punbb/fluxbb. They dont support LDAP as a backend. And we had decided a few months back that all new rollouts must have ldap backend so we can rollin CentOS-DS / openldap based backend. So we need to look at alternatives, and since the primary focus of these international sites is going be forums : Here is a shortlist ( if there is anything else that people are aware of, please add to this list ) - phpBB - SMF - Fudforum - phorum - fluxbb Requirements: - Must be able to scale ( couple of hundred thousand msgs ) - Must be able to handle ldap auth ( if it cant, whats involved in writing the ldap-auth portion ) - Must address the specific requirements raised by the present www.centos.org forum users ( Can you please fill this section in ? ) - Must support all languages we need ( pure utf8 support would be good ) - Secure - Skin'able Nice to have: - Capable of running multiple instances from a single deployment - responsive community :D Things we will need to do: - Decide on what s/w to use. - Give the ArtWork people enough time to get the look & feel sorted. - Migrate newbb forums from www.centos.org to $system ( hey, english is a language too :D ). - Migrate fr.centos.org into the final s/w - setup {de/es/ja/it/pt_br}.centos.org Actions: Ralph and Fabian are going to work on setting up a test ldap server, once that is online we will then start by installing into our test-vm-farm the various s/w to eval them. If anyone would like to help, please feel free to jump right in. Just a quick note to thank all involved in the ppc64 AltArch effort! Was able to get one of our IBM 812L’s up and running very quickly after importing the Everything ISO into our Cobbler environment. Next I’ll try rebuilding some of the packages that we need for 32-bit ppc… Thanks again for all the great work! Why is systemd user instance support disabled in CentOS 7 / RHEL 7?

Hi! I'm preparing a backup package for Fedora/EPEL 7 [1] that provides a web server with a systemd unit file for running with the systemd user instance (i.e. 'systemd --user'). As reported in [2], systemd user instance support is disabled in CentOS 7 due to being disabled in the upstream RHEL package. It is the same with the latest systemd for CentOS 7 [3]. Unfortunately, the original Red Hat Bugzilla report [4] is not public so I'm asking here if anyone has more information why this is disabled? Make Atomic Host Downloads more Visible

Greater Visibility for Events

I believe we should add a link in the Community NavBar on centos.org for https://wiki.centos.org/Events I also believe we should either add confirmed events to the meeting calendar or produce a separate calendar of events CentOS will be represented at. I can do the updates or am happy to let someone else make the changes. regards, bex

openstack rpm for ppc64le

Hi All: In the CentOS community for Power, we have get the iso and rpms for ppc64le, but the rpms related to openstack do not be released for ppc64le, we have a pressing need for them. We wish CentOS community to release it for Power. We are testing openstack on Power using the noarch rpms whitch are provided in x86_64, if credible ? Thanks! 2015-12-22 liu_xbing

Hello, On vault for 7.2.1511 I only find libssh2 source when a couple of packages require libssh. This package is available in 7.1.1503. Shouldn't we have it in 7.2.1511 list as well ? - example of package requiring it is cockpit Thanks for your check. -- Thierry

Here are the first two rounds of CentOS 7 ppc64le rpms, build logs, and mock configs: Round A: http://ppcbootstrap.lon1.centos.org/C7a/ppc64le/ * Built atop Fedora 21 ppc64le VMs * Built from http://vault.centos.org/7.1.1503/os/Source/SPackages/ and c7-ppc64le branch on git.centos.org * Source rpms were temporarily modified to remove circular dependencies during the bootstrap process Round B: http://ppcbootstrap.lon1.centos.org/C7b/ppc64le/ * Built atop Centos 7 ppc64le VMs * Built from http://vault.centos.org/7.1.1503/os/Source/SPackages/ , http://vault.centos.org/7.1.1503/updates/Source/SPackages/ , and c7-ppc64le branch on git.centos.org * noarch rpms were skipped as those will be taken from c7-x86_64 * Only gcc.spec (%global build_ada 0), curl.spec (upstream testcase fix), ghostscript.spec (upstream segfault fix) and nss.spec (upstream fix for expired PayPal cert) were modified. I will provide further details on these alterations on the altarch ppc64le wiki page once that gets created. Feedback is most welcome. You may find jpoc on the #centos-devel and #centos-ppc irc channels. Once the AltArch SIG is officially approved, we will share installable alpha/beta images and rpm repositories. Thanks -James
