Hi, Earlier in the evening today Ralph, Fabian and I had a chat about the present state of the language subsites. This email sort of summarises the main issue ( s/w ). We seem to have run into a slight technical hitch with punbb/fluxbb. They dont support LDAP as a backend. And we had decided a few months back that all new rollouts must have ldap backend so we can rollin CentOS-DS / openldap based backend. So we need to look at alternatives, and since the primary focus of these international sites is going be forums : Here is a shortlist ( if there is anything else that people are aware of, please add to this list ) - phpBB - SMF - Fudforum - phorum - fluxbb Requirements: - Must be able to scale ( couple of hundred thousand msgs ) - Must be able to handle ldap auth ( if it cant, whats involved in writing the ldap-auth portion ) - Must address the specific requirements raised by the present www.centos.org forum users ( Can you please fill this section in ? ) - Must support all languages we need ( pure utf8 support would be good ) - Secure - Skin'able Nice to have: - Capable of running multiple instances from a single deployment - responsive community :D Things we will need to do: - Decide on what s/w to use. - Give the ArtWork people enough time to get the look & feel sorted. - Migrate newbb forums from www.centos.org to $system ( hey, english is a language too :D ). - Migrate fr.centos.org into the final s/w - setup {de/es/ja/it/pt_br}.centos.org Actions: Ralph and Fabian are going to work on setting up a test ldap server, once that is online we will then start by installing into our test-vm-farm the various s/w to eval them. If anyone would like to help, please feel free to jump right in. NFV SIG - update

Hi, There has been a recent resurgence of interest in the NFV SIG, and in the interest of keeping the momentum going, I would like to step aside as SIG char, and recommend that Tom Herbert take over. Tom has taken on the packaging and building of VPP and DPDK-accelerated OVS for OPNFV, and has been active in the SIG in recent weeks, and I think he will help add the structure that has been sorely lacking from me in recent months. I'm not sure what the process is for replacing a SIG chair - can someone let us know, please? ATTN: OCaml 4.03 in Rawhide, could affect POWER, s/390, RHEL 7.4, CentOS 7.4

OCaml 4.03 has been out for a while. I'm intending to add it to Fedora Rawhide once a side tag has been created: https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/6486 This will require rebuilding every OCaml package, which I normally do using a script, but probably there will be manual rebuilds necessary too. A few issues that may affect people: (1) There is a new ppc backend upstream, and I intend to switch to this. For years we have maintained our own out-of-tree ppc64 & ppc64le backends. I want to switch to the upstream ppc backend (which supports, in theory, ppc 32 bit, ppc64 and ppc64le). However when I actually tried this I found it to be rather buggy, it couldn't even compile many basic OCaml packages. This time I intend to switch, and we'll deal with the bugs. (2) There is a new s/390x backend upstream. This should enable us to compile all s/390x packages as native code. It also means that all supported architectures (yes, even riscv64) will support native compilation for OCaml. (3) The real reason I'm doing this now is because partners have asked us to update the OCaml compiler in RHEL 7.4. This will be a binary ABI break -- it's unfortunately unavoidable -- and will require all OCaml-using programs to be recompiled, and of course that will affect CentOS and any other RHEL derivatives. Hi all, We did not have a Storage SIG meeting for a while. Now we have interest from additional participants to join the SIG, so it would be good to have a chat again. The (old) time that was used did not seem practical for most attendees, so tomorrow we're planning to have the meeting a little earlier, namely at 13:00 UTC. run "date -d '13:00 UTC'" in your terminal to convert to $LOCALTIME The venue will be #centos-devel on Freenode :) The agenda will mostly be done ad-hoc, with at least the following topics: - roll call - current state of Ceph packaging and testing - current state of Gluster packaging and testing - plans for Samba inclusion - plans for Tendrl inclusion - any other business Thanks, Niels

Config Management Sig at Interlock

Tagging origin and openshift-ansible into released

Hi, I've ran origin and openshift-origin through all the tests I have. They are both passing everything without any problems. I have given them the -release tag, which means they should be going onto the mirrors tomorrow some time. Packages tagged into release: (Sub-Packages are automatically tagged in) origin-1.3.1-1.el7 openshift-ansible-3.3.39-1.git.1.ebc2639.el7 ansible-2.2.0-0.50.prerelease.el7 Troy

Using pungi for CentOS (AH specifically)

Hey, so upstream Fedora has been working on this: https://pagure.io/pungi And I'd like to discuss trying to use it for Atomic Host work. The concept of a "compose" that ties together the ISO and cloud images is nice for example. It's going to need to gain some more sophistication around OSTree, and there'd likely be some details that need changing such as how signing happens. But having a common codebase here would be nice, and I think we could also stop doing this in Jenkins for https://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup/Atomic/Devel too. (We'd retain the auto-generated RPMs at least though)
