Hi, Earlier in the evening today Ralph, Fabian and I had a chat about the present state of the language subsites. This email sort of summarises the main issue ( s/w ). We seem to have run into a slight technical hitch with punbb/fluxbb. They dont support LDAP as a backend. And we had decided a few months back that all new rollouts must have ldap backend so we can rollin CentOS-DS / openldap based backend. So we need to look at alternatives, and since the primary focus of these international sites is going be forums : Here is a shortlist ( if there is anything else that people are aware of, please add to this list ) - phpBB - SMF - Fudforum - phorum - fluxbb Requirements: - Must be able to scale ( couple of hundred thousand msgs ) - Must be able to handle ldap auth ( if it cant, whats involved in writing the ldap-auth portion ) - Must address the specific requirements raised by the present www.centos.org forum users ( Can you please fill this section in ? ) - Must support all languages we need ( pure utf8 support would be good ) - Secure - Skin'able Nice to have: - Capable of running multiple instances from a single deployment - responsive community :D Things we will need to do: - Decide on what s/w to use. - Give the ArtWork people enough time to get the look & feel sorted. - Migrate newbb forums from www.centos.org to $system ( hey, english is a language too :D ). - Migrate fr.centos.org into the final s/w - setup {de/es/ja/it/pt_br}.centos.org Actions: Ralph and Fabian are going to work on setting up a test ldap server, once that is online we will then start by installing into our test-vm-farm the various s/w to eval them. If anyone would like to help, please feel free to jump right in. [Cloud SIG] CentOS Cloud SIG meeting

To quote from yesterday's RDO IRC meeting: We have basically not had a CentOS Cloud SIG meeting for 2 months. Part of this is because of travel/summer/whatever. I also have a standing conflict with that meeting, which I'm trying to fix. But more than that, I think it's because the Cloud SIG is just a rehash of this meeting, because only RDO is participating. On the one hand, we don't really accomplish much in that meeting when we do have it. On the other hand, it's a way to get RDO in front of another audience. So, I guess I'm asking if people still think it's valuable, and will try to carve out a little time for this each week. Jenkins causing memory leaks in all major web browsers

In the first days spent developing the CI tests for our Vagrant images, I used the Jenkins web interface a lot, without ever closing the tab or the browser. At the end of the second day, my Mac mini became very slow - I found it using 970MB of swap, and the Firefox process' memory had grown from the typical 700-900MB to 2.95GB. Firefox' about:memory reported that ci.centos.org took 1.6GB, out of which 1.2GB in 'orphan DOM nodes'. Someone from #memshrink on irc.mozilla.org told me that a fix for something related to Jenkins had been committed in the past week, and I should try to reproduce it with Firefox Nightly. I used a clean profile, only loaded ci.centos.org and left it alone, without doing anything. Over 7 hours, the memory usage of the web content process increased from 122MB to 1.78GB. I also tried this evening with Firefox 48.0.2 from Fedora 24, with a fresh profile: the memory usage increased from 192MB to 613MB in 60 minutes (305MB being 'orphan DOM nodes', according to about:memory). I was also able to reproduce this behavior with Safari and Chrome on OS X: Safari went from 67MB to 1GB, while Chrome went from 120MB to 1.7GB, both in less than 3 hours. This looks like a bug in the Jenkins web interface. Unfortunately, I had already filed a bug with Mozilla [1] before finding a bug report from January 2014 in the Jenkins tracker, describing a memory leak in Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer (all running on Windows). [2] Is there anyone with a good understanding of closures and cyclic references between Javascript objects and the DOM, willing to take a look at what's going on? The Developer Tools in both Firefox and Chrome are able to take heap snapshots and compare them, and also record all memory allocations; this would probably make debugging easier than it was the case in January 2014. [SIGS] nodejs in centos

Hello, for opstools, we'll need nodejs in a repo, I've seen the Cloud SIG creating their version, PaaS has done the same (just illustrating, I may be wrong). This is mostly a mail to ask for interested persons to join or coordinate efforts here. No need to do the same work multiple times. What would be the best repository for cross-SIG dependencies?
