Hi, Earlier in the evening today Ralph, Fabian and I had a chat about the present state of the language subsites. This email sort of summarises the main issue ( s/w ). We seem to have run into a slight technical hitch with punbb/fluxbb. They dont support LDAP as a backend. And we had decided a few months back that all new rollouts must have ldap backend so we can rollin CentOS-DS / openldap based backend. So we need to look at alternatives, and since the primary focus of these international sites is going be forums : Here is a shortlist ( if there is anything else that people are aware of, please add to this list ) - phpBB - SMF - Fudforum - phorum - fluxbb Requirements: - Must be able to scale ( couple of hundred thousand msgs ) - Must be able to handle ldap auth ( if it cant, whats involved in writing the ldap-auth portion ) - Must address the specific requirements raised by the present www.centos.org forum users ( Can you please fill this section in ? ) - Must support all languages we need ( pure utf8 support would be good ) - Secure - Skin'able Nice to have: - Capable of running multiple instances from a single deployment - responsive community :D Things we will need to do: - Decide on what s/w to use. - Give the ArtWork people enough time to get the look & feel sorted. - Migrate newbb forums from www.centos.org to $system ( hey, english is a language too :D ). - Migrate fr.centos.org into the final s/w - setup {de/es/ja/it/pt_br}.centos.org Actions: Ralph and Fabian are going to work on setting up a test ldap server, once that is online we will then start by installing into our test-vm-farm the various s/w to eval them. If anyone would like to help, please feel free to jump right in. SRPMS for AltArch (more specifically aarch64 kernel)

Hi folks, I've asked on IRC and have been pointed to this list. I can't seem to find this particular source rpm: kernel-aarch64-4.5.0-29.el7.src.rpm which is what is pointed by `rpm -qi kernel` on my system. Are these supposed to be available anywhere? Looking on google I only see one for an older release in someone's centos user/people page, but I can't seem to find these in any repo. The debuginfo are properly here but it's good to have sources as well when messing around with low level stuff :) Cheers and thanks for the hard work, -- Dominique Martinet

CERN pre-dojo meeting topic : build bots accounts for CBS

Here are some notes taken from the CERN pre-dojo meeting from last week : <paste> Allow SIGs to have separate accounts for build bots - separate user accounts from "bot" accounts for security reasons - [proposal] have an email alias (not list) per sig for the bots, like sig-<bla>@centos.org pointing to the SIG's chair - [proposal] SIG chair must request or approve email alias requests/ ACO account creation sent to CentOS Board chairman </paste> So, (as also discussed yesterday in the CBS meeting - https://www.centos.org/minutes/2017/October/centos-devel.2017-10-23-14.01.l…) The proposal would be to create a @centosproject.org (or @centos.org) email alias, that would go to SIG chair, and that would be used to create an account on https://accounts.centos.org While we can manually generate x509 cert with longer validity period, we discussed the fact that using centos-cert just takes 2 seconds every 6 months, so SIG members who were present didn't find it a real issue. When can I expect a test build of origin 3.7.0 rpm package? Over the weekend I grabbed the tarball 3.7.0-rc.0 and used it to update one of my systems. In 3.6, it was having problems using Vsphere as a cloud provider. 3.7 fix the issues I was having.

I'm happy to announce, that there are new Software Collections available for testing (sig-sclo). There are the following packages available in centos-sclo-rh-testing for CentOS 6 and CentOS 7: devtoolset-7 rh-mariadb102 rh-postgresql96 rh-mongodb34 For installing them, run: $ sudo yum install centos-release-scl-rh $ sudo yum-config-manager --enable centos-sclo-rh-testing $ sudo yum install <scl> Learn more about these packages and how to use them at: https://www.softwarecollections.org/en/scls/rhscl/devtoolset-7/ https://www.softwarecollections.org/en/scls/rhscl/rh-mariadb102/ https://www.softwarecollections.org/en/scls/rhscl/rh-postgresql96/ https://www.softwarecollections.org/en/scls/rhscl/rh-mongodb34/ The three new databases also deliver packages called <scl>-syspaths, that put wrappers into standard paths, so users don't need to bother with the alternative path. Call for presentations: CentOS Dojo, Brussels, February 2nd, before FOSDEM

As you may be aware, we are once again planning to hold the annual pre-FOSDEM Dojo in Brussels, February 2nd, 2018. The CFP for this event is open, and there's more information in this blog post: https://seven.centos.org/2017/10/feb-2-2018-centos-dojo-at-fosdem/ We're looking for talks about CentOS - any and all aspects of CentOS, and the various communities/projects that rely on CentOS for their CI, development platforms, or where they are deployed. We're particularly looking for case studies of how you use CentOS in your production deployments to make the world better. The CFP closes on November 5th, at midnight. Please get your talks in, so that we can once again put together a great schedule.
