What to do with SCLo SIG content that is EOL

We discussed this on last SCLo SIG sync-up meeting -- unlike packages from CentOS base, SCL packages are not moving to Vault repos at this point, although some of them are already EOL and not getting any updates. A question was raised whether such packages should be moved to Vault. Comparing to CentOS base packages, SCL is different in packages naming -- version of the stack is part of the package name. That means, that once e.g. devtoolset-3 got EOL, yum won't update them ever, even though there are some newer versions available (those use different name though).. Moving such packages from mirrors to Vault would basically mean some setups will get broken for users. It's understandable, that some users are still fine using EOL packages, but they would need to change repos to the Vault url. What do you think -- should we start moving EOL SCLs into Vault? How big problem would that be for you? Honza

Yum branding

Howdy, I found out that there is new Red Hat branding in yum. 1. Get newest yum. 2. Move all repos to different location (probably enable=0 also would work - not tested), and disable any other repo (if there is repo enabled from another sources/plugin). 3. Try to update the system. One-liner: "sudo yum update yum -y && mkdir repos && sudo mv /etc/yum.repos.d/* repos/. && sudo yum update" Vagrant (libvirt) oneliner: " vagrant init centos/7 && vagrant up --provider=libvirt && vagrant ssh -c 'sudo yum update yum -y && mkdir repos && sudo mv /etc/yum.repos.d/* repos/. && sudo yum update'" yum update returns: """ There are no enabled repos. When we started to expose the minutes of the meetings held in #centos-devel (on irc.freenode.net) on the website some time ago, it was mandatory for someone from infra team to pull/organize/push the minutes files to https://www.centos.org/minutes. Ceph/Luminous availble in CBS for testing

Hi, we now have in CBS ceph luminous tagged for testing [2] and in centos extras a package to install the .repo file [1] Presently it should be possible to install ceph luminous by doing the following: * install centos-release-ceph-luminous from [1] * enable the -test repo in /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Ceph-Luminous.repo * yum install ceph-{mon,...} Basic sanity check suggests all the necessary dependencies are there, ansible has been removed from the ceph repos because it is now shipped via centos extras. Ken, do you think we can tag these builds for -release? Upcoming Openstack/RDO (Pike release) cloud in CI environment

Hi, Some of you know that we deployed initially an RDO/Openstack cloud in the CI environment, so that it would be possible to get cloud instances/VMs instead of bare metal when having to test something. Such VMs could/can also be used to add multiple jenkins slaves when needed. The needed work in Duffy wasn't yet merged, so the CI projects couldn't already request a VM (yet). With the fact the it was based on Newton (now EOL) and that also we're slowly adding other arches (like aarch64, ppc64, ppc64le) in CI, we discussed the best way to add those arches to existing cloud, but that's not possible. As the Cloud SIG targets AltArch with the Pike release, it makes sense for us to also migrate to that environment/version and so probably being able to also have some aarch64/ppc64le compute nodes in the same cloud. As some VMs/instances were already deployed there, we'll contact concerned projects on the best way to provision new instances, and let them migrate what had to be migrated (in case something has to be migrated) Reminder : it's also CI environment, without any backup of those instances, and also other reminder that compute nodes are running on top of raid0 devices.
