anaconda dependency calculation?

Hi all, I'm trying to find a tool that calculates all dependencies for a specific package or group of packages for use with CentOS 5 (beta) with the intention of putting together a custom single CD build of CentOS 5. With CentOS 4 i used a python script that used the hdrlist module to find all dependencies which borrowed code from a number of sources. I've looked at yumdownloader and how it checks dependencies (using the --resolve option) but if i pass it the list of packages defined in say the Base and the Core yum groups which generally form an absolute minimal install i end up with about 200 packages. If i do a custom install (using beta 1 disks) and deselect everything i end up with over 300 packages. So i'm guessing anaconda calculates dependencies in a slightly different way, can anyone point me to files/code where i should be looking to find out? Hi, Earlier in the evening today Ralph, Fabian and I had a chat about the present state of the language subsites. This email sort of summarises the main issue ( s/w ). We seem to have run into a slight technical hitch with punbb/fluxbb. They dont support LDAP as a backend. And we had decided a few months back that all new rollouts must have ldap backend so we can rollin CentOS-DS / openldap based backend. So we need to look at alternatives, and since the primary focus of these international sites is going be forums : Here is a shortlist ( if there is anything else that people are aware of, please add to this list ) - phpBB - SMF - Fudforum - phorum - fluxbb Requirements: - Must be able to scale ( couple of hundred thousand msgs ) - Must be able to handle ldap auth ( if it cant, whats involved in writing the ldap-auth portion ) - Must address the specific requirements raised by the present www.centos.org forum users ( Can you please fill this section in ? ) - Must support all languages we need ( pure utf8 support would be good ) - Secure - Skin'able Nice to have: - Capable of running multiple instances from a single deployment - responsive community :D Things we will need to do: - Decide on what s/w to use. - Give the ArtWork people enough time to get the look & feel sorted. - Migrate newbb forums from www.centos.org to $system ( hey, english is a language too :D ). - Migrate fr.centos.org into the final s/w - setup {de/es/ja/it/pt_br}.centos.org Actions: Ralph and Fabian are going to work on setting up a test ldap server, once that is online we will then start by installing into our test-vm-farm the various s/w to eval them. SRPMS for AltArch (more specifically aarch64 kernel)

Hi folks, I've asked on IRC and have been pointed to this list. I can't seem to find this particular source rpm: kernel-aarch64-4.5.0-29.el7.src.rpm which is what is pointed by `rpm -qi kernel` on my system. Are these supposed to be available anywhere? Looking on google I only see one for an older release in someone's centos user/people page, but I can't seem to find these in any repo. The debuginfo are properly here but it's good to have sources as well when messing around with low level stuff :) Cheers and thanks for the hard work, -- Dominique Martinet

Experimental Vagrant images

Hi there, I would like to change the Vagrant images to use a single partition (xfs) and swap to a file on that partition. This would simplify resizing the OS partition and also adjusting the size of the swap, compared to the current images. Would anyone be interested in testing the images? Please email me off-list for the links. I already had the changes done last month, tested them myself and on CICO but didn't get to wider testing or merging the PR for the monthly release... life is bit complicated lately. :) The only gotcha with swapping to a file is that you have to create the swap file with dd, as fallocate doesn't work properly on XFS. The experimental images come with a preconfigured swap, so this is only important if you want to change to another swap size. Thanks, Laurențiu

SIGs: Possibility to drop EOL content at 6.10 release time

RHEL 6.10 was released today and building CentOS 6.10 has just started. This would be an excellent time to remove any EOL software you may have floating around on mirror.centos.org. SIGs should explicitly state which content they want copied over from 6.9 to 6.10. I'd imagine that for example openstack-juno could be dropped because it went EOL in 2015-12-07 (so actually prior to CentOS 6.8's release..). Is there some other content that could be dropped? If SIGs want to transfer some of their packages from 6.9 to 6.10, please let hughesjr know. You can probably simply reply to this message to let people know of your decision. Content to be transferred over to 6.10 can be specified either by directory name, or by individual package names. There are also various centos-release-* packages in extras, http://mirror.centos.org/centos/6.9/extras/x86_64/Packages/ , perhaps some of those could be trimmed as well. You should also communicate to your users in advance that the EOL packages will disappear, and if necessary, instruct them to migrate to a newer supported version. Having instructions for that procedure published somewhere would be nice. The old content under 6.9, including any EOL content, will be archived to vault.centos.org, and that content will be available in the vault indefinitely. The 6.9 directory on mirror.centos.org will be emptied some time after 6.10 is released. For reference and inspiration, here are some directories from mirror.centos.org, including both up-to-date content and potentially EOL content. SIGs should review the list to make sure these directories can be copied over to 6.10 when that time comes. CentOS 7.4 installation getting failed because of nss password prompt during installation.

Hi, We have been observing that after migration to CentOS 7.4 the installation fails due to password being prompted for the execution of below command as part of the install script. <custom_location>certutil -N -d <custom location> -f <custom location>/nsspassword The install script contains the above command to create the NSSDB at the install time. Ideally, this command should never prompt for a password when it is already provided as part of '-f' argument but seeing this issue after migration to centOS 7.4. Also frequency of the issue is intermittent. Can anyone please help us to find the cause of this issue? Thanks and regards, Vyshnav

Removing old centos-release-<sig-project><version> from CentOS Extras?

Hi, How are other SIGs handling the removal of repositories from the mirrors? There are centos-release-<sig-project> packages around that have YUM .repo files pointing to the now non-existing repos. Some (all?) of these centos-release-<sig-project> packages are still available in CentOS Extras. At the moment I am tempted to create a centos-release-gluster-DONTUSE package that replaces centos-release-gluster313 and other unmaintained versions (suggestions for an alternative to DONTUSE welcome!). I do not want to force users to upgrade to a newer Gluster version without manual intervention. Fedora CoreOS and CentOS Atomic Host

Today, the Fedora Project announced [1] a new project, Fedora CoreOS, which will serve as a successor to Container Linux and Fedora Atomic. [1] https://fedoramagazine.org/announcing-fedora-coreos/ There's an FAQ [2] that addresses, among other things, the future of CentOS Atomic Host: "CentOS Atomic Host will continue producing downstream rebuilds of RHEL Atomic Host and will align with the end-of-life. The Fedora CoreOS project will be the consolidation point for the community distributions. Users are encouraged to move there in the future." [2] https://coreos.fedoraproject.org/faq Red Hat has announced [3] plans to ship a product called "Red Hat CoreOS." It's my impression that the delta between the Fedora CoreOS project and the Red Hat CoreOS product will be small enough that there won't be a need for a CentOS CoreOS. [3] https://www.redhat.com/en/about/press-releases/red-hat-unveils-roadmap-core… There are limited technical details about Fedora CoreOS available at this point, but the new host will be based on the same rpm-ostree foundation on which Fedora Atomic and CentOS Atomic are now built. [I tried sending this last week, but it never showed up in the list archive, I guess because I wasn't subscribed. Resending.] I recently found that the "centos" suffix dropped off the default rpm ${?dist} macro sometime between CentOS 7.3 and 7.5. I applaud the change, but could someone point me to any bug reference, git commit or mailing list discussion about it? A project I maintain needs some change to accommodate this, and I'd like to refer to the original discussion in my own commit message. All I could find about this in the CentOS bug tracker was https://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=7416 (resolved wontfix). And https://git.centos.org/log/rpms!centos-release.git/c7 only has up to CentOS 7.3. So where should I be looking? Thanks, John

[dpdk-users]Problem compiling dpdk on Centos aarch64

When compiling dpdk for aarch64 on Centos, I receive compilation error. I see this in the Centos 1804 distribution. I haven't tried locally n F28 but I see buildlogs in Fedora28 for dpdk. What is the state of glusterfs-server on CentOS 6?

I'm a little confused about the state of glusterfs-server on CentOS 6. It isn't supported with gluster 4, the current recommended version of gluster. I have an existing server with glusterfs-server 3.18.15-1 which had a hard drive crash. So I'd like to rebuild the gluster environment on that server. I see that centos-release-gluster38 is available, but I read some- where that it is no longer supported. Also centos-release-gluster312 is available, but I don't see any indication that it is still supported. Is the SIG providing any ongoing support beyond that which is provided by the gluster project? What is the current recommendation of the storage sig for running glusterfs-server on CentOS 6? c

Pulling docker images from registry.access.redhat.com fails because of certs

Hi, I think with the recent change in the package from python-rhsm-certificates to subscription-manager-rhsm-certificates doesn't provide the docker registry certs for registry.access.redhat.com and user not able to pull any images from there. Is it intentional or there is some regression? Docker daemon not respecting the insecure registry which is part of /etc/containers/registry.conf

Hi, I spun up a fresh centos-7.5 VM on Digital ocean and tried to do oc cluster up which require to have insecure registry `172.30.0.0/16` when I am trying to add this in the /etc/containers/registry.conf this is not picked up by docker daemon even after restart:( I can see we have `/run/containers/registries.conf` as env file in the `/usr/lib/systemd/system/docker.service` which even not present on the system :( Not sure where we messed up or I made some mistake here. ``` # rpm -qa | grep docker docker-common-1.13.1-63.git94f4240.el7.centos.x86_64 docker-1.13.1-63.git94f4240.el7.centos.x86_64 docker-client-1.13.1-63.git94f4240.el7.centos.x86_64 ``` Note: Same addition of insecure registry working as expected in the fedora28. -- Praveen Kumar http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Kumarpraveen http://fedoraproject.org/ http://kumar-pravin.blogspot.com

Latest podman installation broken in CentOS

Hi, Looks like there might be issue with spec file of the podman for CentOS because of wrongly put the "Requires" version for *conmon* but this is what I am getting now when trying to install podman :( $ sudo yum install podman [...] --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: Package: podman-0.5.3-7.gitc54b423.el7.x86_64 (virt7-container-common-candidate) Requires: conmon >= 2:1.10.0-3.gitb0f6d98 Installed: conmon-1.11.0-1.git55a3daa.el7.x86_64 (@virt7-container-common-candidate) conmon = 1.11.0-1.git55a3daa.el7 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest -- Praveen Kumar http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Kumarpraveen http://fedoraproject.org/ http://kumar-pravin.blogspot.com
