anaconda dependency calculation?

Hi all, I'm trying to find a tool that calculates all dependencies for a specific package or group of packages for use with CentOS 5 (beta) with the intention of putting together a custom single CD build of CentOS 5. With CentOS 4 i used a python script that used the hdrlist module to find all dependencies which borrowed code from a number of sources. I've looked at yumdownloader and how it checks dependencies (using the --resolve option) but if i pass it the list of packages defined in say the Base and the Core yum groups which generally form an absolute minimal install i end up with about 200 packages. If i do a custom install (using beta 1 disks) and deselect everything i end up with over 300 packages. So i'm guessing anaconda calculates dependencies in a slightly different way, can anyone point me to files/code where i should be looking to find out? Hi, Earlier in the evening today Ralph, Fabian and I had a chat about the present state of the language subsites. This email sort of summarises the main issue ( s/w ). We seem to have run into a slight technical hitch with punbb/fluxbb. They dont support LDAP as a backend. And we had decided a few months back that all new rollouts must have ldap backend so we can rollin CentOS-DS / openldap based backend. So we need to look at alternatives, and since the primary focus of these international sites is going be forums : Here is a shortlist ( if there is anything else that people are aware of, please add to this list ) - phpBB - SMF - Fudforum - phorum - fluxbb Requirements: - Must be able to scale ( couple of hundred thousand msgs ) - Must be able to handle ldap auth ( if it cant, whats involved in writing the ldap-auth portion ) - Must address the specific requirements raised by the present www.centos.org forum users ( Can you please fill this section in ? ) - Must support all languages we need ( pure utf8 support would be good ) - Secure - Skin'able Nice to have: - Capable of running multiple instances from a single deployment - responsive community :D Things we will need to do: - Decide on what s/w to use. - Give the ArtWork people enough time to get the look & feel sorted. - Migrate newbb forums from www.centos.org to $system ( hey, english is a language too :D ). - Migrate fr.centos.org into the final s/w - setup {de/es/ja/it/pt_br}.centos.org Actions: Ralph and Fabian are going to work on setting up a test ldap server, once that is online we will then start by installing into our test-vm-farm the various s/w to eval them. Using mirrorlist in centos-release-* packages

Hi, as mentioned in https://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-devel/2018-September/016949.html mirrorlist.centos.org has been updated to produce mirror lists for SIG content as well. Some centos-release-* packages have already been modified to use mirrorlist.centos.org instead of mirror.centos.org, but many still point to mirror.centos.org. Most of mirror.centos.org hosts are also used for seeding the 600+ external mirrors we have. By directing some of their download traffic to external mirrors we can offer faster sync speeds for those external mirrors, and for people downloading individual rpms from mirror.centos.org. Second, most of those external mirrors offer faster download speeds to end users than what could be achieved by downloading from mirror.centos.org, so the users will benefit from this change as well. The better geographical coverage does not hurt either. mirror.centos.org nodes are donated servers, and it would be kind to the sponsors to use their bandwidth sparingly. The .repo files should be modified so that the current baseurl line gets commented out and a mirrorlist entry gets added, like this: mirrorlist=http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$releasever&arch=$basearch… #baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/$contentdir/$releasever/storage/$basearch/gluster-4.1/ Note that mirrorlist.c.o can automatically choose between main and altarch content based on the arch parameter. The repo names are constructed from the repository path by stripping away the architecture and changing any slashes to dashes: sclo/x86_64/rh -> sclo-rh, sclo/x86_64/sclo -> sclo-sclo, paas/x86_64/openshift-origin311 -> paas-openshift-origin311, storage/x86_64/gluster-5 -> storage-gluster-5 etc. You can use 'curl' to check what mirrorlist outputs for your repository. New repos are added to mirrorlist.centos.org automatically once the repository hits mirror.centos.org. That script is currently run every three hours. I guess it could be run more frequently (it's fairly lightweight), but you should give the external mirrors a few hours to sync before announcing your release anyway. You can either submit an update to your current centos-release-* file now, or wait until you need to create a new centos-release-* package for other reasons such as releasing softwarepackage-(version+1) which uses different paths. My recommendation would be to submit an update to your current centos-release-* package, so that you would not need to worry about this when you eventually need to publish a new one for other reasons. We released an updated centos-release package for CentOS AltArch before 7.6.1810 was released for this exact reason, ie. we didn't need to worry about this change at 7.6.1810 release time. Other people (such as bstinson, arrfab and hughesjr) can probably help with creating and publishing an updated centos-release-* package, but the usual tagging procedure to extras will apply. The SIG Guide https://wiki.centos.org/SIGGuide should have all the needed details for this (if not, complain to bstinson). It is highly recommended to actually test your new centos-release-* package from buildlogs before you ask that package to be signed and pushed to extras. The holiday season is fast approaching so (I) don't expect much activity regarding these changes in the following days. I'm hoping that the SIGs would take a look at this in early 2019, though. Centpkg and the converged git project

Hi Folks, I've done a bit of work on centpkg, now that we have a testbed at git.stg.centos.org. The goal here is to allow centpkg and fedpkg (Fedora's site) to both understand the different formats. The test version of centpkg described below is the first step in that direction. Basically you can try this out by pulling a container image: `podman pull quay.io/bstinsonmhk/centpkg:develop` Why a container image? - The patches to make this happen involve invasive changes to rpkg, that are still in flight (basically, https://pagure.io/rpkg/pull-request/393) - I wanted to bake in the sources and configs to develop this a little faster as we find problems. I’m talking about the AWS market place images here: https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B00O7WM7QW which are also linked from the CentOS home page. They haven’t been updated since June 13, 2018 . Hi, There is a plan from CentOS to support OpenSSL 1.1.1 in future versions of CentOS 7 because openssl community has OpenSSL 1.1.1 which was released in Sep 2018 and it has fixed for many vulnerabilities. And CentOS has 1.0.2k version. Can you please update on this? Regards, Shagun

Adding to the PPC arch group

Hi. I and my development group are interested in doing ppc (ppc32) development for CentOS 7 and getting that running on certain SoC-based platforms. I imagine that there’s some overlap with the 32-bit component on the Power7 work. We have Centos 7.6 x86_64 servers that we can do in-house builds on. We’re mostly looking for collaboration, and maybe a little initial guidance about the pitfalls of setting up a cross build environment, adapting RPM .spec's for additional architectural builds, etc. We have no idea how much work this will be. We’re also interested in supporting newer (4.10 or later) kernels, so we’ll probably contribute to elrepo as well. Any pointers/wisdom welcome. Thanks, -Philip

what about CentOS7 ppc64 ?

Just wondering the status of CentOS 7 ppc64, as 7.6.1810 was released on December 3rd 2018 for all arches *but* ppc64, and no news since. In the CentOS Infra, I had to maintain ppc64 hosts for both cbs/koji and other nodes, but as recently, someone decided to archive 7.5.1804 to vault, and also that there is no ppc64 anymore on mirrors, one having to deal with ppc64 is now in a position where : - it's impossible to install new ppc64 host - it's impossible to just "yum install" anything either Can we get an official statement from the ppc64 maintainer about this ? Or should we consider that arch dead and unmaintained, and if so, I can remove ppc64 from the centos infra too ... (or maybe we should find a new maintainer, etc ..) centos-logos package not updated on git.centos.org

And, at vault.centos.org centos-logos-70.0.6-3.el7 version is available which is latest, could anyone please check. Vagrant centos/7 v1811.01 breaks nfs at boot

Hi folks, It seems that the latest vagrant box for centos/7 is breaking nfs mounts at boot. My vagrant project has an nfs server and client node. The client has two nfs mount in fstab. https://gitlab.rc.uab.edu/jpr/ohpc_vagrant Using the image from the prior release (1804.02, kernel 3.10.0-862.2.3.el7.x86_64, CentOS Linux release 7.5.1804 (Core) ) the mounts complete successfully. The newest releases (1811.02 and 1809.01) fail to mount the drives at boot. I believe the differences between the older VMs using XFS and volume manager vs direct device and ext4 in the newer images are changing the boot timings of services. The messages.log shows that the network is unavailable at the point which the nfs mounts are tried on the failing nodes. The wait service doesn't appear to work right or wait long enough to allow the network to come up first. It seems that the boot for the direct use of the sda1 and use of ext4 simply initializes too fast. Here's the top of the systemd blame info for the box that succeeds in it's nfs mounts at boot (v1804.02). Hi, Latest CentOS kernel comes with openvswitch-2.0.0 drivers, but for an application, I needed openvswitch-2.9.2. I am trying to get my openvswitch.ko (from openvswitch-kmod-2.9.2-1.el7.centos.x86_64.rpm ) to get signed by the kernel module signing key. To achieve this I included below line to my spec file: mv signing_key.x509.sign.debug signing_key.x509 \ %{modsign_cmd} ~/home/nupur/openvswitch/*.ko %{modsign_cmd} $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/lib/modules/%{KVRA}.debug || exit 1 \ fi \ if [ "%{with_default}" -ne "0" ]; then \ But the build is failing. Hi folks, Does anyone have any tooling today that can tag CBS packages as -testing and then tag them as -release? Currently we're tagging packages by hand into -testing and -release, but that makes it really easy to miss builds. I'm looking for something like Bodhi, but something that we can generalize to work with Ceph in CBS. - Ken

[Qemu-Kvm] Centos 7 Guest vm freezing

Dear team I am running a centos guest VM which freezes for every few days . The qemu-kvm on shows 100% cpu utilization. Ping to the guest might work or may not work .Please can you tell me what approach can i take to debug it . using "virsh dump" I can dump the core of the guest vm but I am not sure how to analyse it . I'm drafting the January newsletter, which I hope to publish next week, and it's time for SIG reports. As you may remember, several months ago I mentioned that we'd like to hear from SIGs on a more formal, quarterly basis.
