I assume bugs.centos.org is not it because the package itself is likely built just fine. I did my best to contain relevance above. First question, the statement ""...Resilient Storage is not base...". There has been a shift from 7 to 8 that I don't understand. RHEL 7 provides dlm in ResilientStorage, then CentOS 7 provides dlm in base [1]. The dlm package is still part of ResilientStorage in RHEL 8, but can't be provided? I wasn't able to find any answer to why that was changed. Can you provide any insight to the shift? Second question, the current advice seems to be "dlm will be in centos-stream and you should use that." However, tdawson made a pretty explicit statement: "If people are running their production machines on CentOS Stream ... well, in my opinion, that's their problem."[2] These statements appear contradictory. Just trying to piece this all together so I can explain to my peers the business and community decisions going on here. Currently someone that set up a cluster with gfs2 in 7 can't do the same thing in 8 due to the dlm package missing. That is a loss of functionality and seems to indicate it's a bug or intentional reduction in feature set. If I'm misunderstanding any of this please educate me. Infrastructure SIG

In yesterday's board meeting, the board discussed and approved the creation of an Infrastructure SIG. There are some details here - https://blog.centos.org/2020/09/board-approves-creation-of-infrastructure-s… - but much still needs to be figured out. The main goal here is to move some operational things out of the Board's purview, and into a working group that can move more quickly, and delegate more broadly, while still being under board oversight. Aoife Moloney, who you may know from her weekly "CPE Weekly" mailings, has taken the initial role of SIG Chair for that group, which doesn't mean that she's doing all the work or making all the decisions, but, rather, that she's kind of a project manager for the group. As the last paragraph of the blog post says: "We welcome participation and comment from anyone with the skills or interest to be helpful, particularly if you are already administering any of the infrastructure that the CentOS project relies on." This is not an attempt to take any work away from those already doing it, rather to create a group where that work can be coordinated and tracked, so that the board knows what's going on, without having to have their hands directly in the process.

Virt SIG release rpms not landing in extras

repo_gpgcheck for centos repos?

Hi, I wonder if it would be not beneficial enabling repo_gpgcheck for all centos repos? A short cross check shows that also SIG repos have repomd.xml signed. mirror.centos.org has no TLS enabled and repo_gpgcheck would add an additional security layer per default? This could be started for EL8? Or are there any barries? -- Thanks Leon

CPE Quarterly Feedback Survey Results

Hey folks, I want to thank everyone that took the time to complete the survey for us. Even more so for those of you that left comments to help give us extra info and context, this is invaluable. The flip side is, it takes a little time to work through and that's what we're doing right now. A few pieces we can acknowledge off the bat though: - Mediums of communication were overwhelmingly positive for weekly email lists and blog posts. 76% for the emails and 46% for blog posts respectively We're discussing how to improve these even further at the moment as well as tweak the PO office hours and wind down the Taiga boards as these were significantly less popular. 14% for the PO office hours and 1% for the Taiga boards. - Transparency of decisions and communications. You want more of the former and streamlining on the latter. We hear you and will aim to deliver this alongside the first point above. - Overall (82%+ reponses) you feel we did a good job since April of this year. We appreciate the level of confidence you've shown in us and our desire is to continuously improve this with your feedback.
