Building oVirt Node and oVirt Engine Appliance on CentOS Infrastructure

Hi, we are now trying to build oVirt stable release content on https://cbs.centos.org/ and ship it to users via CentOS Virtualization SIG repos. Most of the packages are building fine (except ovirt-engine which still need some work, currently tracked on https://pagure.io/centos-infra/issue/527 ) The two most challenging builds are the oVirt Node and oVirt Engine Appliance which on oVirt jenkins are requiring lorax and imagefactory, running virt-install in nested virtualization. This seems to not be working in copr build flow and I expect it to not work on cbs. How can we build an OVA and an ISO within centos infrastructure for shipping it as part of the Virtualization SIG? I know there's https://ci.centos.org/ which may probably be able to do the same task we are running on jenkins.ovirt.org but I guess there's a more "standard" way to do it in CentOS infra. KDE Plasma Desktop in EPEL 8 has been updated

RHEL 8.5 updated qt5 from 5.12 to 5.15. This allowed us to update the KDE Plasma Desktop in epel 8 to the latest version, per the update schedule[1]. That update is complete, tested and pushed to epel stable. ** New Versions qt5 - 5.15 (5.15.2 mainly) plasma - 5.23.3 kf5 - 5.88 ** Known Bugs - When running in Wayland (not X11), the start menu and notifications pop up in the middle of the screen instead of the side. ** Next Update - Per the update schedule[1], the KDE Plasma Desktop will remain stable in EPEL for a year. That goes for both epel8 and the upcoming epel9. Except for bugfixes, we do not expect any updates until RHEL 8.5 and RHEL 9.1. ** Packages that were not updated These packages still work, they just aren't at the latest versions. - kpmcore and kde-partitionmanager -- Newer versions of kpmcore need a newer util-linux (2.33.2) (RHEL8 has 2.32.1) -- Newer versions of kde-partitionmanager need a newer kpmcore - digikam -- Newer versions of digikam need opencv with the DNN libraries. MirrorManager link redirect issue

I just had a merge request[0] pulled into the osinfo-db project that adds CentOS Stream 9 details. This is used by tools like GNOME Boxes to discover and download ISOs as well as configure generic VM information. The MR stems from a user reporting Boxes wasn't listing Stream 9 as an available option. As part of the process I had to provide direct URLs to the Stream 9 ISOs. I would have preferred to have used the MirrorManager links, such as: https://mirrors.centos.org/mirrorlist?path=/9-stream/BaseOS/x86_64/iso/Cent… But these URLs don't redirect properly with tools like wget or curl, instead returning a list of available mirror links to download from. It works just fine in a browser, maybe I don't know the proper flags to pass to make this work as expected. Currently the base URL used is from the mirror.stream.centos.org site. Missing packages on Devel repo

qemu-kvm 6.1.0 with 16 PCIE root ports is broken

Hi all, I now filed [1]. Until it's sorted out, perhaps it's possible to temporarily handle this by excluding/removing the packages on the Stream repo, or something similar? This is especially problematic for oVirt users, because oVirt defaults to creating VMs with 16 such ports, thus all VMs are broken. CentOS 7 updates not posted on centos-announce mailinglist anymore

Hi, new packages for CentOS 7 used to be posted on the centos-announce mailinglist. The last one posted was on 27th of September, but there were several updated rpms released in October and November that were not announced on the mailinglist. The mailinglist itself seems still to be working, as I got the announcement for Centos 8 2111 just fine. Could somebody responsible for the update / release process please look into this? Having the updates announced via mailinglist is very helpful if you do not have fully automatic updating activated, but do your own manual QA process before updating your servers. Thanks. KDE Plasma Desktop has been rebuilt on RHEL 8.5. The rebuilt KDE packages have been pushed to epel-testing. To test and/or use these packages do dnf --enablerepo=epel-testing update Note1: This hasn't made it out to all the mirrors yet. I don't know how long that takes, best bet it to try tomorrow. Is advanced-virt (Virtualization SIG) not relevant anymore with latest CentOS Stream 8?

Hello, I've noticed that the latest c8s repos ship libvirt/qemu-kvm (and other related things) newer than the advanced virtualization repository… which brings me to a question if it is still worth using those builds or not? I've been trying to dig into some mailing list conversations (which are pretty much non-existent at this point) and IRC meetings (which I did not see in October, but found one in November[1]). Found only mention that libvirt/qemu will not be available for power arches since c9s and that's what probably virt sig will build (if my understanding of meeting minutes are correct). Problem installing gcc in CentOS stream 9

Hi, I'm having problems installing gcc in CS9: [root@eba723badadf /]# dnf install gcc CentOS Stream 9 - BaseOS 583 kB/s | 1.3 MB 00:02 CentOS Stream 9 - AppStream 1.3 MB/s | 7.7 MB 00:06 Error: Problem: cannot install the best candidate for the job - nothing provides libgcc >= 11.2.1-6.el9 needed by gcc-11.2.1-6.el9.x86_64 - nothing provides libgomp = 11.2.1-6.el9 needed by gcc-11.2.1-6.el9.x86_64 it seems some subpackages of gcc are missing in the repo?
