Hi guys. Do we have 'postgresql-server' in some default repo? I see there is a module but it seems to be "empty". If not what method do you recommend for pgsql? many thanks, L.

Secure Boot working on fresh CentOS Stream 9 and 10 installs

Starting on the August 25 update (20250825), Secure Boot is now working on both CentOS Steam 9 and 10 fresh installs. It is also working on qcow2 images. We apologize that it has taken so long for this to happen. Many thanks to the many people who helped get us to this state. CentOS Stream Team

RFC - debuginfod.centos.org usage (Stream 8 packages)

[Request for Comments] We recently got a zabbix alert about disk threshold usage on https://debuginfod.centos.org service. As a reminder (and for context), while all previous centos linux releases had (for efficiency reasons) a split between .src.rpm (going to https://vault.centos.org) and *debuginfo* rpm packages (consuming a lot of bandwidth/disk space) going to http://debuginfo.centos.org , the plan changed when Stream 8 (and so Stream 9 and 10 too) landed. All packages were pushed out to mirror network, but not all variants (multiple ones due to Stream nature) were kept online. We were asked to provide a similar service to what Fedora was already offering and so that's how https://debuginfod.centos.org/ came to life : for people willing to debug pkgs, they can request "on the fly" corresponding debuginfo files/packages (see website for simple instructions) Now the question (and requests for comments) : We were still carrying on that server all the Stream 8 debuginfo packages, while technically not needed anymore (Stream 8 was removed from all mirrors when it went EOL in May 2024) ... But based on analysis done with Frank Eigler (maintaining the service with us), we discovered that in fact a third of all requests for debuginfod service are still about stream 8 (vs Stream 9 and 10) The question is so : can we just delete (imho, yes !) these old .el8. debuginfo packages (probably just analyzed in loop by AI scrapers these days) and so : - limit bandwidth needed for that machine - reclaim some storage space (instead of increasing in loop the backend disks) Opinions, thoughts, comments ? -- Fabian Arrotin The CentOS Project | https://www.centos.org gpg key: 17F3B7A1 | @arrfab[@fosstodon.org]

When logging in to work on something this Sunday, I was presented this banner on gitlab.com/CentOS : ``` Your Opensource subscription for CentOS will expire on 2025-10-13. If you do not renew by 2025-10-13, you can't use merge approvals, code quality, or any other paid features. ``` Can any member of the CentOS Board with contact at Gitlab ensure that action is taken immediately and seriously to ensure not blocking any SIG work happening now on Gitlab please ? Testing new CentOS Stream Images

Since CentOS Stream 9, the RHEL and CentOS Stream images have differed a little bit, because they have used different image building systems. RHEL uses Image Builder, while CentOS Stream used ImageFactory. CentOS Stream is finally able to use Image Builder, and we are getting ready to transition to the new images. Before we completely change over, we would like the community to look at the new images, test them, and give us feedback. ksplice and CentOS

hi guys, lots of people on this list are keen on contributing to the CentOS effort - and one place where we could, as a group of people, make a massive difference is being able to deliver a ksplice upgrade model. A couple of people have started in silo's to try and get something together but I feel it might be a good time to try and see if we can do somethng as a group. Do we have people on the list who find the idea of rebootless kernel upgrades interesting ? Is there some desire to try and make that happen within the CentOS Ecosystem ? - KB

Tarballs with all CentOS Stream specs now available

The CentOS Stream team has automated the created of tarballs that have all of the CentOS Stream spec files in them. This is just like the tarballs of Fedora's spec files.[1] There is a separate tarball for each major release. Gitlab CI/CI usage quota for SIGs (please read)

Hi all SIGs! As we all switched (for SIGs) to gitlab.com in the last months (and final archive was done for all /rpms/* and other projects still on pagure/git.centos.org) some SIGs started to explore other gitlab features, like CI/CD. We got this week a warning from Gitlab about our CentOS project almost reaching the allocated quota in our sponsored account there, but it should be reset on monthly basis and it shouldn't be blocking any of your CI/CD pipelines for this week. But we still need to verify about which SIGs are (ab)using the "compute minutes" allocated for our account and find a better/optimized way to let you still use CI/CD features, but maybe by offloading to some dedicated runners we'd spin up in our own infra . I just created yesterday ticket https://gitlab.com/CentOS/infra/tracker/-/issues/1743 to track this (but need some investigation and time which I had not planned to spent on gitlab for now) Actually the top 3 projects/groups under CentOS org on gitlab using computes minutes for August are : - https://gitlab.com/CentOS/automotive/src/automotive-image-builder (~17200 minutes so far) - https://gitlab.com/CentOS/Hyperscale/rpms/systemd (~5400 minutes so far) - https://gitlab.com/CentOS/kmods/rpms/kernel (~1300 minutes so far) We clearly see an exponential growth for compute minutes usage, but we'd also remind each SIG/project hosted there to be "good citizen" and so think that they are quotas in place that would eventually impact other hosted projects. -- Fabian Arrotin The CentOS Project | https://www.centos.org gpg key: 17F3B7A1 | @arrfab[@fosstodon.org]
