Virtual Machines for testing of forums

Moin, we have set up two virtual machines at the moment for forum testing, one for php-bb and one for flux-bb. Both machines have a basic LAMP setup. So whoever wants to do some testing for those: Please drop me a mail and you'll get back the password and ip address for that machine. As a bonus you'll also get the ldapmanager password (see LDAP section of <http://wiki.centos.org/WebsiteVer2/forums>) and the location of your user and groups tree in LDAP. If there is someone who wants to test a different forum software, please raise your hand now (Requirements for the software can also be found on <http://wiki.centos.org/WebsiteVer2/forums>). Isolinux.cfg + multiple ks.cfg problem

Hi, I am working on to add two installation options in the isolinux.cfg file. The options are: 1) To automatically install centos (including partitioning the HDD) 2) Manual installation and disk partition For that I used different ks.cfg files: 1) auto.ks.cfg - For automatic installation 2) ks.cfg - for manual installation To select the installation option I edited the isolinux.cfg file as follows: ################################################################ default linux prompt 1 timeout 600 display boot.msg F1 boot.msg F2 options.msg F3 general.msg F4 param.msg F5 rescue.msg F7 snake.msg label linux kernel vmlinuz append initrd=initrd.img text ramdisk_size=8192 ks=cdrom:/auto.ks.cfg nousb nopcmcia label text kernel vmlinuz append initrd=initrd.img text ramdisk_size=8192 ks=cdrom:/ks.cfg nousb nopcmcia ################################################################ But the problem is when I write "linux text" it starts the 'Automatic' installation. When I done write anything and pressed Enter then also automatic installation starts. Although when i typed 'text' and pressed Enter then 'Manual' installation started. My question is: in the default linux distro when 'linux text' is entered then the installation starts in the text mode else in the graphical mode. I also need to make a similar setup for 'automatic' and 'manual' installation. Can anyone help me out in this matter. Help is much appreciated. :-) Thanks, Richard

centos and HPC

hi, Does anyone have details on what is going on with upstream and their HPC product ? A directory has down up on ftp.redhat.com but there is nothing inside there, and there seems to be not much going on with their sales website either. What we could start working on in the mean time is to get a SIG together, and formulating intent / direction / mechanism etc. Also, HPC itself is quite a vast subject - and perhaps we should not limit ourselves only to the product base that is being released upstream. important: 5.0 and 5.1 are now gone from builders

centos-5.0 and centos-5.1 are now going away from the builders, which meas no more package builds against only those isolated tree's. All CentOS-5 builds now only build against the latest release tree. 4.6 will also go away in the next day or so. - KB

the mysql and a couple other small packages still haven't been compiled from the rhwas 5 srpms. is there anything i can help with to get this moving forward again?

Custom CentOS :: Buildinstall: package order problem

Hi, I am trying to make a custom CentOS distro with some of my additional 3rd party RPMS added in it. I need to do the following: 1) To Install basic CentOS 5.2 2) To install my 3rd party RPMs along with CentOS installation 3) Some other changes, like changing some text strings in the installation process For these tasks I am using buildinstall tool that comes in the anaconda-runtime-11.1.2.113-1.el5.centos.2.i386.rpm. Before running this tool I am making a 'package order file' using the /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/pkgorder tool and then using that package order file in the buildinstall tool (with the "--pkgorder" switch) I am able to make the iso file of the customized CentOS with my RPMS. After burning this iso on a CD I am able to install CentOS as well. But, the problem lies in the order in which the packages get installed. There is a 3rd party RPM which needs the kernel source to get installed, but the kernel's rpm get installed after the 3rd party RPM. Due to which the installation of my 3rd party RPM fails! This problem comes due to the order in which the packages get installed. A strange that i noticed is when I see the package order file, the kernel package is written in the beginning of it . But, when I see the installation progress screen in the installation process, the kernel package gets installed way later after around 83% completion of the installation. But, my 3rd party RPM tries to get installed before this and throws an error because it could not find the kernel source till then. However, the installation completes and after rebooting I can see the error in the install.log file. I am not able to figure out how to change the packages installation order so that kernel rpm could install before my rpm. I would really appreciate any help on this matter. I am stuck on this 'last' step of completion of my project and need help badly! Thanks, Richard

kernel panic, Centos3131, BZ456664

Hi to all, I'd like to inform about %subject%. I have recently upgraded tens of C4 machines to 2.6.9-78.0.5.EL kernel. Two of machines are having symptoms being said in Centos3131, BZ456664. There are two workarounds, change /etc/init.d/iptables sed -i.bak -e 's/_tables$/_CONNTRACKNEW/;s/_conntrack$/_tables/;s/_CONNTRACKNEW$/_conntrack/' /etc/init.d/iptables or run a "newer" kernel. I have rebuild RH kernel on Centos and published it here http://fs12.vsb.cz/hrb33/pub/Centos3131/ I guess CentOS team should release warning to users about that issue and inform them to not upgrade to recent kernel on remote machines without remote management. I will explain why. If user upgrades remote machine to 2.6.9-78.0.5.EL kernel, initiates reboot finally, machine is going to hang on iptables unload. If the machine is remote one, without remote reboot, switching power supply, remote management (ILO, Drac, ...) machine is complete dead. The only way is to send someone to reset the machine.
