source missing from 5.7 release

Hello CentOS development team, seems the pushout scripts still miss a few corner cases. CentOS and Scientific Linux Cern installations with FAI

I'm very happy to announce, that FAI (Fully automatic Installation) now can install and configure CentOS and Scientific Linux Cern (SLC). You can use a Debian FAI server for installing CentOS version 5 and 6 or SLC 5 and 6. As an example I've also built a FAI multi-distribution CD which installs those three different Linux distributions with different configurations. Get this ISO image from http://fai-project.org/fai-cd/ This installation is very quick. I've done a CentOS 6.0 installation (with graphical desktop) in 199 seconds (in a kvm instance on a quad-core 3.2GHz, hard disk in RAM) and it only needs 490 seconds on the real hardware when installing from CD. incorrect diskboot.img in CentOS 5.7 i386 dvd iso

Hello, trying to make a usb install on a thin client it seems I notice an incorrect diskboot.img image in 5.7. Anyone already discovered/reported this? URGENT: Website and fora at risk due to automated spammer account creation

http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=5105 Forum moderators have been battling spammers creating bogus accounts by the thousands using automated "bots". The only way moderators currently have to attack the problem is by a laborious process of searching for such accounts and selecting them for deletion. This has been working, although at the cost of considerable time to perform the operations; however, such accounts are currently being created at a rate of thousands per day making deletion of 50 at a time via the web interface a practical impossibility. Our approach has been to delete all "Inactive" accounts more than 7 days old (these are being created at a rate of about 1 per minute) and "Active" accounts with no posts and either no logins, or with no logins in the last 30 days. The latter are the rapidly growing problem, and more than 40,000 accounts with zero posts created between 7 and 30 days ago currently exist. Account creation at this rate will likely bring the site down if the situation is not dealt with soon. Proposed approach: 1. Implement some automated way of deleting accounts as described above. 2. Implement captcha or some other mechanism in the account creation process to foil the bots. Phil

Need info regarding python recompilation

HI. I am trying to introduce curses.menu patch into python package for CentOS 6. My intention is to compile with that patch to see what files are different (only few I guess) so I can try to create a separate python-curesemenu package. Is it possible to compile python-2.6.5-3.el6_0.2.x86_64 package on fresh install of CentOS 6.0? CentOS 6 location does not have symlink to 6.0 cr

Is this intentional or something missed? Kind proves an earlier point I made that a single swap of symlink from 6 -> 6.0 to 6 -> 6.1 as more effective way of ensuring correctness than 6/centosplus -> 6.0/centosplus 6/contrib -> 6.0/contrib ... if this is by mistake. ;) -- James A. Does CentOS 6 udev rule format diff from CentOS 5?

Hi, I've just updated from CentOS 5 to CentOS 6. I have one or my own udev rule in /etc/udev/rules.d to change permission of a USB device which works on CentOS 5 but is no longer working on CentOS 6. Are there any changes in CentOS 6 regarding to the udev rule format? Thank you. hce

info on cr announce list

Hello, at announce message as in http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-announce/2011-August/017689.html I can see in particular: - All contents in the CR repo will be announced into a separate announcement list; once 5.7 is released the announcements will be re-sent to the centos-announce list. Now I'm testing it on a CentOS 5.6 x86_64 system and indeed after enabling the CR repo it pulls and updates about 70 packages and it is working ok (comparing with a RH EL system I can see some difference, probably due to latest upstream updates not already ib sync). Same kernel version as upstream in particular. But I can't see any message at http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-cr-announce/ Is this because archives are not populated or because the activation of the dedicated announce list is going to be a future step? Is CR aim only to provide security related packages or all the updates released by upstream provider in the mean time that CentOS official 5.7 isos are released? Any way to easily see what is the date current CentOS CR is in sync with? And any easy way to see time stamp of latest upstream update? BTW: during June and July the qaweb.dev.centos.org web site was filled with the calendar estimated section too and I found it very useful to have a synthetic view of milestones. Currently it is empty for 5.7 and 6.1. Is this due only to the huge amount of parallel work going through or are there any other reasons? Thanks in advance and keep on with the great work! Gianluca
