Interest in a SIG for logging and monitoring?

Hello, I wonder, if there is more interest here for starting a logging and monitoring SIG. It should provide (as the name says) for logging and monitoring. With people running huge installations, it makes sense to have more centralized logging, but there's currently not that much in CentOS repositories. I could imagine to have both tools and also installation and configuration bits and pieces to be maintained by the SIG. Before I'd be putting out more details, about what I could imagine or what I would like to see, I would like to see some more interested folks raising their hands. Best, Matthias

RFC: Performance tuning of the Vagrant images

Hello everyone, I would like to ask for your feedback about tuning the official CentOS images for Vagrant. The good news: the next release will probably provide Vagrant images for both CentOS 6 and 7, not just 7 as until now. Deltarpm allows yum to download just binary diffs for the already installed packages and rebuild the rpms locally, thus decreasing the used bandwidth. However, this is quite CPU and I/O intensive, and significantly slower than just downloading the full packages (at least for users on any sort of broadband connection). Deltarpm can be useful for users in development countries, which do not always have access to unmetered broadband, while someone hosting many VM instances on the same server, like a VPS provider, might want to avoid the extra I/O load (especially on mechanical hard-disks). Deltarpm is already part of the CentOS 7 images since May 2015 - should we keep it or remove it? Tuned, a daemon that can adjust system parameters based on the workload (it comes with a number of profiles, optimized for different situations), is preinstalled in CentOS 7, and can significantly improve performance and/or reduce load. Tuned can also be installed in CentOS 6, and it would increase the size of the Vagrant image with just 291kB, since its prerequisites are already installed. Should we add it to CentOS 6? Hi, We have released the Atomic Developer Bundle 2..0.0 through CentOS Atomic SIG. The ADB release also includes release of following ecosystem projects: * adb-utils 1.5 : A set of utility scripts and configuration files for ADB. ADB 2.0.0 release adds new featuresand several bugfixes, including: * Adding openshift2nulecule in ADB box. openshift2nulecule createsa Nuleculized application from existing OpenShift application. Refer the project documentation for more details[5]. * Couple of bug fixes and enhancements to the Vagrantfiles provided for ADB use cases like OpenShift , Kubernetes etc. adb-utils 1.5 release includes several enhancemnets , including * Added support for persistant volume for OpenShift running in ADB. * Added imagestreams for Wildfly. * Added template for eap64-mysql-persistent application. Known issues: * Running AtomicApp in ADB fails. [Infra] : DevCloud maintenance window notification

Due to recent changes in the racks hosting the DevCloud nodes (https://wiki.centos.org/DevCloud) we'll have to reorganize the physical placement of those nodes. That means that we'll have to shut down/power off the whole DevCloud infra, migrate the nodes in another rack, and slowly restart all the services running on those nodes. Getting started with CentOS Community Container Pipeline on Vagrant

Hi all, We have come up with scripts[1] to deploy CentOS Community Container Pipeline(CCCP, in short). A typical CCCP setup comprises of 3 nodes: Jenkins master, Jenkins slave, Openshift server. To ease the setup of this multi node environment, we have created a Vagrantfile[2] to get you started with your CCCP setup in no time. Special thanks to Dharmit Shah and Praveen Kumar to help me out with testing and improving these deployment scripts. Below is the set of instructions to get you started with CCCP. You can also find the latest and updated set of instructions here[3]. PaaS SIG meeting time - proposed change

Hi, A couple of key members of our PaaS SIG have developed conflicts with our current meeting time. I am proposing that we push our meeting back two hours, still on the same day of the week. New Proposed Time: 1700 UTC - Wedensdays ( date --date="1700 UTC" ) Does this work for others? Or will we be loosing more people than we gain? Troy
