repo extras enabled by default

Despite the decision to place the centos-release-cr rpm into the extras repository. I just want to ask if there are some thoughts on keeping the extras repository disabled by default? Or use extras for just that extras (e.g. centos-release-cr) and move current extras rpms into the addons repo? this came here up while auditing a system etc. - i noticed some rpms from extras. just thinking loud LF

qaweb dashboard and dates displayed

Hello, hope that this could be correct target to post, as I don't find any link directly on the web site. I notice that going to http://qaweb.dev.centos.org/qa/dashboard some posts don't get updated with the correct timestamp as days pass through. For example when you click on the article First CentOS 6.2 Tree and ISOs make it to QA you can see that the comment from Jeff " As of last night we have an installable x86_64 tree for testing. The i386 tree has some issues with the installer that need to be fixed. " keeps getting marked as "4:42pm Today" HIH giving better information, Gianluca

Should bugs.centos.org entries be duped for CentOS 5 and CentOS 6?

It's a minor issue, but I opened http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=4951 some time ago against CentOS 6, because I noticed that most of the files on the DVD image(s) are owned by UID=500, and it's inconsistent with upstream. I just checked my CentOS 5.7 iso, and it's in the same situation; with 5.8 being worked, does it make sense to consider this bug entry for 5.8 ISO creation? Or does a new bug need to be filed? thanks, Greg

CentOS plus kernel-devel x86_64 with incomplete Module.symvers?

Hello list, While working on building a driver update module RPM for CentOS 6 x86_64 I noticed that that the Module.symvers file included in the non-debug kernel-devels for the latest CentOS-Plus x86_64 kernels seems to be much shorter than that for the debug version and also than both version for the i686 architecture $ awk '{print $4;}' /usr/src/kernels/2.6.32-220.4.2.el6.i686/Module.symvers | sort | uniq -c 6124 EXPORT_SYMBOL 3706 EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL $ awk '{print $4;}' /usr/src/kernels/2.6.32-220.4.2.el6.i686.debug/Module.symvers | sort | uniq -c 6177 EXPORT_SYMBOL 3734 EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL $ awk '{print $4;}' /usr/src/kernels/2.6.32-220.4.2.el6.x86_64/Module.symvers | sort | uniq -c *2716 EXPORT_SYMBOL* *1957 EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL* $ awk '{print $4;}' /usr/src/kernels/2.6.32-220.4.2.el6.x86_64.debug/Module.symvers | sort | uniq -c 6147 EXPORT_SYMBOL 3916 EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL This prevents the find find-requires.ksyms script (part of the %kernel_module_package utility set) from creating KABI dependencies properly on x86_64, for kernel module packages build according RHEL driver update program (i.e. kmod-* package), in the sense that they are build without any KABI-requires in the resulting kmod-RPM. The standard CentOS kernel-devel (presumably RHEL upstream?) however, contains similar numbers of symbols in Module.symvers also in the x86_64 architecture: $ awk '{print $4;}' /usr/src/kernels/2.6.32-220.el6.i686/Module.symvers | sort | uniq -c 6119 EXPORT_SYMBOL 3706 EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL $ awk '{print $4;}' /usr/src/kernels/2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64/Module.symvers | sort | uniq -c 6089 EXPORT_SYMBOL 3888 EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL Could anyone confirm whether or not this is by design? freenx, ESXi5 and VM-Tools

Hello, just in case anybody runs into this: According to NX there seems to be a bug an VMTools 8.6.0 which are shiped with ESXi5. After installing/upgrading to 8.6.0 the NX-desktop may hang or not respond to user input. http://www.nomachine.com/ar/view.php?ar_id=AR11I00608 The workaround in this link works (at least in my environment). It also seems (again at least in my environment) that VMs after updating to 8.6.0 can have problems with the GNOME-Desktop (after logging in to the GNOME-Desktop the mouse pointer is in "please wait"-mode forever). It seems the remocal of the previous version of VMTools has some problems with restoring vmwlegacy_drv.so. So ln -s /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/vmwlegacy_drv.so.old.0 /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/vmwlegacy_drv.so solves the issue in this case. cheers Christoph

hi Guys, the last time we had some TShirts sponsored, I asked for who wanted it - and had to parse emails coming in, match sizes, check postage issues and email followups to people. It wasent easy, and took a fair bit of time. And in the end, I had to limit emails down to only those people who actually got Tshirts sent to them. For the 70 odd Tshirts I had, there were 500+ requests. We are going to be getting some more TShirts in the next few days - and this time they are split between two designs, and multiple colours and different sizes (ofcourse). It would be great if there was some s/w that could be installed on one of our machines that would allow us to add the tshirt quantities and sizes and colours in, and then let people essentially check-out. The shirts are sponsored, the postage + packaging isnt. So people would still need to come up with a bit of money ( it should be quite nominal ). I'm also talking to someone locally about sponsoring beer and coffee mugs and a few other things ( its essentially what they do - make glassware for large brands ). So this might be an ongoing thing. Dual Layer DVD iso for 6.3 / 5.8

Hi Guys, there were some great conversations and ideas that came from the Fosdem weekend, over the next few days I'll try and summarise as many as I can and get some conversations started around the ideas. One thing that came up a few times, and Andreas mentioned as well, was that it might be a good idea to produce a single DVD iso, suitable for use on large dual layer DVD's as they are now starting to become more popular. Its fairly easy to do, however I would not be all that keen on exporting that via the regular mirrors. CentOS 6.2 New Kernel Issues

CentOS 6.2 Community / Developers, Are there any known issues with the latest Kernel on CentOS 6.2? I performed a yum update and the kernel downloaded. When the system rebooted I started having intermittent latency issues when trying to perform certain commands on the system such as top or ls -ltr, etc. I was having extreme latency getting to root. I am unsure if there is a hardware compat issue but I found my server in kernel PANIC mode the next day and was unable to login entirely. Has this been reported before?
