Hi, Will be any chance, to get KDE 3.5 on CentOS 6? I ask, because i dont like new-look KDE 4, and not realy love Gnome. -- Regards, Mike

Hi, So while we wait for the first set of packages to build the biggest effort required is to find, confirm and patch those packages that have upstream branding in them. And packages that need to be changed to work within the centos ecosystem. The aim is to find any mention of the upstream brands / trademarks and content that might cause confusion as to what product the user is running ( eg: %descriptions in spec files ). And when we find something of this nature, file a report against the right centos-6/component on http://bugs.centos.org/. I've imported all the components of CentOS-6 into the bugs.c.o interface, if there is anything missing please shout out. We might need to add some down the road ( eg: centos-release-notes ), and remove some ( eg: RedHat-Release-Notes-* ), but most of the components should be there now. There is, an extremely brief, overview of the whole process at : http://wiki.centos.org/QaWiki/6/Round1 Also, please leave issues assigned to the default 'Issue Tracker' role account. The QA team members will assign the issues to themselves when they do the reviews. Keep in mind that if you need an installed system to do these tests ( like one would for the gnome/kde components ), you can use the rhel6-beta2-refresh media. The package manifests have not changed much from there to what's in release. so even if you were to go through the beta2-refresh packages, that would help. CentOS Font

Hi all. I know it's quite late for changes and I am sorry for not coming up with the following issue earlier. The CentOS logo makes use of a commercial font called Denmark. It would be great if we could replace it with a free font. My suggestion is Vegur from arro. I have created a logo using this found which could be found here: http://www.marcus-moeller.de/share/new_logo_plain.png note: it's white on transparent bg which might be displayed as white on white in your browser so use your preferred image viewer instead. DRBD 8.3.9

Hi, there are new drbd83-8.3.9 packages available in the testing repository (4 and 5, i386 and x86_64), if you want to try them out. There shouldn't be a problem to drop those in as a replacement to older drbd83 packages. Regards, Ralph

where did you get the optional packages?

hi, as rhel-6 release my old question arise again. from where did you get the optional packages' src.rpms? eg: a2ps-4.14-10.1.el6 is included in all of this channel: RHEL Client Optional (v. 6 for 32-bit x86) RHEL Client Optional (v. 6 for 64-bit x86_64) RHEL Server Optional (v. 6 64-bit x86_64) RHEL Server Optional (v. 6 for 32-bit x86) RHEL Workstation Optional (v. 6 for 32-bit x86) RHEL Workstation Optional (v. 6 for x86_64) but this packages (with many other optional packages) can't be find on redhat's ftp server (or at least i can't find it). can you tell me from where the centos team legally download this packages' src.rpm? thanks in advance. regards. -- Levente "Si vis pacem para bellum!"

Artwork for C6

Hi, with the EL6beta2 Refresh, I am going to guess that the rhel6 release isnt far - and one of the things that takes the longest to get sorted out in 'CentOS Lands' is the artwork components. It would be fantastic if we can get some of the centos-artwork packages into the testing repo's by the 15th Aug. So what all do we need in order to get there ? The components we need to start with are the gnome theme, *-artwork packages and *-logos packages. Can we also get a show of hands, on who all are working on these components ? Thanks - KB

EL6 and larger than DVD install media

hi, I am guessing most people have looked at the larger-than-DVD install tree's in the shape of the 'base' and 'optional' repos in rhel6-beta. When it comes to us doing the tree's there are a couple of options, one of which might be to stick with 'base' and 'optional' repositories. But I am fairly sure that Red Hat will productise their tree's into the various varients ( Workstation, Server, Cluster Suite etc ) and drop the 'optional' repo to make things look a lot more like the EL5 tree's. Since we mix all the tree's into one - that creates the issue we have with 5.5/x86_64/DVD1 and DVD2. Not ideal. I have a couple of ideas on this, but would like to hear what everyone else thinks is the best way to handle this. Keep in mind that we want to try to ensure that all kickstart / tools / code written for RHEL should justwork on CentOS ( well, as much as is possible ). - KB

Hi all, I've seen too much people being redirected to www.centos.org/docs while asking something specific in the #centos channel, and sometimes it will fail, just because those people ask for example details about kvm and that kvm isn't included in the 5.2 virtualization guide that is hosted on the centos server. What does need to be done to include newer doc on www.centos.org/docs, that is in-line with the docs available upstream ? For example , i see that Johnny just removed a s"hadow man logo" in the header and a "red hat documentation" link+icon He also added a kind of 'disclaimer' in the footer. Is there something else to be done ? If i consider the 5.5 technical notes that are on the centos docs server, i still see a "shadow man" logo on the first page ... -- -- Fabian Arrotin
