Custom Packages for WebEnvironment

Hi all. I noticed Russ's recent comments on the Web Infrastructure page and wanted to take it to the public instead of using the wiki for communication: http://wiki.centos.org/WebsiteVer2/WebEnvironment/Infrastructure?action=dif… There are a few challenges in a common infrastructure setup. We make use of components that are not part of the 'official' CentOS repositories atm. Most of them are web applications like Moin, phpBB, Mailmann, etc. These have to be packed and made available, either in a publicly accessible (preferred) or an internal repo. So maybe CentOS Extras or even Contrib is a good place to hold these new packages. Another advantage is the artwork and style setup. This could either be included directly within the corresponding application packages or packed separately. As we are also replacing some configuration files of HTTP (e.g. error messages) we may also have to re-pack this app. Having RPMs that replace other RPMs configurations is not the preferred way, I guess. Hi all, I am on centOs5.3 and I d like to use freeradius server on it with ldap in remote server. I followed the faq and the tutorial but I am little bored because it seems that I need to install in the local server some ldap library but I don't know how to do it 'cause it doesn't work with yum or another basic system command. RHWAS for CentOS 5

Red Hat has uploaded the mysql rpm they are builing with the RHWAS rpms now. I think they are all there now except for the java srpm they are using. And two months later I finally remember to report that it was, in fact, a disaster. I was attempting to upgrade to php 5.2, but dependencies went berserk, instructor web pages stopped working, bosses yelled at unix admins, etc... etc... Anyone who cares, probably already knows this and this is probably why php 5.2 has stayed in testing so long. Documentation Help

Hello, Karanbir Singh told me that I might be able to help CentOS with the 5.3 documentation. He tell me the effort is something Tim Verhoeven has taken under his belt. Can somebody tell me how I might be able to contribute? Package backports - 5.4 kernel

According to upstream release notes, there were API/ABI changes with OFED stuff. If userspace is not updated accordingly, it is very likely that there will be breakage. There were several other things in the upstream release notes that I don't see mentioned anywhere with this kernel release (examples: ext4dev, bonding+ipv6). Are there plans to do this? As the release is already syncing to mirrors, I suspect the answer is "no". I can't agree with this new policy, and I hope these comments demonstrate why.

WebsiteVer2 - LDAP Management Platform

Hi again, as requested I am starting a new thread on the -devel list concerning the technical aspects of the new Web Environment we are working towards. We have successfully set up an LDAP bind with phpBB and written a script that let's us import the existing data from the XOOPS site: http://wiki.centos.org/WebsiteVer2/forums/newbb_to_phpbb We are still in need of a LDAP management platform and I was wondering if we could use 389/CentOS Directory Server for that.
