Python 2.4.3 deps issue.

Hi, I just noticed that while doing an update on one of my CO5.3 x86_64 boxes it listed that it want's to install a load of extra packages (exhibit A) I then traced this back to yum wanting to update python to 2.4.3-24.el5_3.6. However when I check one of my RHEL servers it did not have this dependency (exhibit B) when I updated python. Is this a bug in the CO package build? Colleagues, I'm software engineer from Institute for System Programing of Russian Academy of Sciences and we are developing a free lightweight tool for checking backward/forward binary compatibility of shared C/C++ libraries in OS Linux. It checks interface signatures and data type definitions in two library versions (headers and shared objects) and searches ABI changes that may lead to incompatibility. Hello, I want to help with making CentOS a bit more comfortable, so there is a spec of a little clipboard manager called Parcellite. Function that check links replaced, now based on protocol prefix instead of regex (pcre wrapper appeared in glib 2.16, but I'm not used to pcre to replace it). The Bind update for EL4 was just announced, packages that fix the issues ( see https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2009-1179.html ) are available for C4 at http://dev.centos.org/~z00dax/c4-bind/ we dont normally release updates till the packages used for the build are also available, however since this is a major issue - it would be nice to get these updates out right away. Keeping that in mind could someone test for : a) install these packages, make sure they work for the basic stuff b) update an existing bind install on C4 and make sure it does not break anything c) ensure that the deps for the actual binaries are met cleanly within the existing CentOS-4 os + updates set.
