The Bind update for EL4 was just announced, packages that fix the issues ( see https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2009-1179.html ) are available for C4 at http://dev.centos.org/~z00dax/c4-bind/ we dont normally release updates till the packages used for the build are also available, however since this is a major issue - it would be nice to get these updates out right away. Keeping that in mind could someone test for : a) install these packages, make sure they work for the basic stuff b) update an existing bind install on C4 and make sure it does not break anything c) ensure that the deps for the actual binaries are met cleanly within the existing CentOS-4 os + updates set. Dear everyone: I have a question, when I try to compile *kernel-2.6.30.1*, but after I compiled modules, I always cannot get any .ko files, and it showed: *Building modules, stage 2. MODPOST 0 modules* My working kernel is *2.6.18-128.2.1.el5* CentOS 5, and I have update everything to up-to-data by "yum update". Did anyone know why it is? By the way, my compile kernel step is that: 1) make mrproper 2) make menuconfig 3) make bzImage 4) make modules 5) make install 6) make modules_install Refer to: http://www.microsuncn.com Best Regards Alan Zheng

php-mcrypt 5.2.6 test repo

Hello all, I ve been using php 5.2.6 from the testing repo for a month now and everything works fine. The only thing is I cant find php-mcrypt for 5.2.6 from the testing repo. phpmyadmin is saying that is missing but php-mcrypt from the base repo is installed. Thanks, Adam

Questions about the centos rebuild process / s390x related

Hello hackers, i have been asked from some companies, 1. how long it would take to rebuild a centos from scratch if I would have a whole CP (common processor) for it. 2. What the build process includes, meaning "steps to success" 3. whether the licenses force a maintainer to push the resulting distribution upstream. 4. In which cases the maintainer is liable for the resulting distribution rpms, binaries, etc... It would be VERY helpful if I can clarify those questions. sqlite in CentOS4 ... why?

I was recently told that sqlite is now in base in CentOS4, I was wondering why this is since "upstream" doesn't ship it. Starting a s390x rebuild on my own

Good morning hackers, me and others tried to form a special interest group and didn't succeed well. So im starting my own rebuild now. I have access to a z/VM guest and some hercules with 1k mips, too Ill inform you next time the CentOS 5.3 basic package set has been created.
