heads up - centos/testing repos

hi Guys, Over the next couple of days, there is going to be a fair bit of movement in the CentOS-4 and CentOS5 testing repos hosted at dev.centos.org. iptables extras

Hi, Attached is a modifed src rpm of iptables. It is based on base C5 iptables package and source. It just build 2 extra packages : iptables-extras and iptables-ipv6-extras. These extra package contain modules that are not enabled by in the base package but do have support for them in the kernel. I use it for CLUSTERIP support. I would be great if these extra packages could be put in centosplus/extras. hi! Yes we did indeed get this to work. Mr CentOS himself (aka Johnny Hughes) has kindly compiled and provided kernels with fixes for this bug that Redhat seems quite unwilling to solve, an attitude I do not understand at all. Centos 5, Iced Tea and Pentaho

As requested, just a quick note to say thanks to the guys who are porting IcedTea, I've managed to get Tomcat and its Pentaho war running fine. Along with the Pentaho Kettle ETL tool. I'm having some issues with Pentaho Report Designer, but tbh it needs a rewrite so its not a great surprise. Cheers Guys and keep up the hard work. Tom

FastTrack update for liberation-fonts and pygtk2 available

Hello, according to http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2008-0071.html and http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2008-0079.html it seems that the upstream vendor has released updated liberation-fonts and pygtk2 packages as fasttrack updates. Converting a LiveCD iso to pxeboot

The latest livecd-tools[1] includes a new tool to convert a LiveCD iso image so that it can be booted over the network using PXELINUX. The way it works is to bundle the complete ISO image inside the initrd. The kernel and (bloated) initrd are downloaded using PXE in the normal way, and the init script finds and loopback-mounts the ISO image and booting continues as normal. This script has been added to the latest livecd-tools release from Fedora and seems compatible with the livecd-tools used to create the CentOS 5.1 LiveCD. QA Coordinator

Hello everyone, As most of you will probably know there was a CentOS developers day last Friday (before the FOSDEM event). One of the things discussed during that day was the need/use for a QA coordinator. I think the best way to describe the job role is that this person should be between the developers and the QA team and make sure that QA testing is efficient and on time (as best as we can get). Also the coordinator is the single point of contact for the developers to talk to the QA team and the other way around. I am the "lucky" person that will try to be this QA coordinator from now on. So I would like to make the following arrangements : Towards the developers. Let me know as soon as possible when there is something in the pipeline that will need to tested by the QA team. The sooner as I know the sooner that I get can the testers mobilized and ready. For the members of the QA team. If you are still interested in testing then make sure you are added to the QA Team page on the wiki (http://wiki.centos.org/QaTeam) During testing document all your findings on the wiki so we can keep track of things. I will try to make a test plan and some sort of schedule on the wiki for each release that needs to go through QA as soon that I'm aware that a release is coming for testing, so everybody knows when there is a need for testing. Alright, that is it for know I think. Let me know if you have any questions, comments, things I forgot, ... 2 problems running CentOS 5.1 + kernel-vm in VMware Fusion

Hi, Inside VMware Fusion, I've started using: - CentOS 5.1 x86_64 - kernel-vm-2.6.18-53.1.13.el5.x86_64.rpm from http://people.centos.org/~tru/kernel-vm/5/RPMS/x86_64/ - kmod-open-vm-tools-0-0.20080123.2.6.18_53.1.13.el5vm.x86_64.rpm from http://people.centos.org/~hughesjr/open-vm-tools/5/x86_64/ Sometimes (most times) I get this error during boot: "The VMware Tools poweron script did not run successfully in this virtual machine - If you have configured a custom poweron script in this virtual machine, please inspect it for errors; otherwise, please submit a support request." A screenshot of this error can be seen in: http://www.scribd.com/doc/2228546/VMware-Fusion-error-running-CentOS-51-ker… I don't know if this error is happening in VMware under Linux or Windows. Modifying CentOS label's.

Hello everyone! Well i want to create my own distribution (base system only 1 cd) based on CentOS 5.1 but i can't find what to do to modify all the text's that say CentOS while anaconda is installing. I fonud this script: http://osdir.com/ml/linux.centos.devel/2006-08/msg00119.html But i don't know the path where it should be running... Is there something like this to personalize my distro or some other tool that can change all CentOS label's?? I really appreciate your help. Hope someone can help me. Dovecot with MySQL support in centosplus

Hi, I see there is postfix with mysql support in centosplus. Would it be possible to add dovecot-mysql there? I'd volunteer to maintain it if needed. I guess it can't go to fedora epel, as the package is already part of RHEL. -- Lubomir Kundrak (Red Hat Security Response Team)
