rpmRepo Web Apps Filesystem Directory

Dear Sirs, Another disappointing question for me is the desigend Web Apps directory. The Filesystem Hierarchy Standard recommends /srv/www but only one of the big, SuSE, uses it. Debian uses /var/www. Mandriva uses both /var/www and /usr/share. Red Hat used /var/www and now /usr/share. CentOS uses /usr/share and RPMForge uses /var/www. So my question is, what will be the future Web Apps directory for rpmRepo ? Be sure, I don't want to annoy anyone, I really want the best for CentOS that we use every day in our production environment. And this Filesystem Web Directory question is poisonning me for a while, when I want to mix up packages, but also to make the good choice for my own ones. CentOS 5.1 for ppc / ppc64

Range on #centos was nice enough to point me at a message from a few weeks ago which mentioned that PPC/IA64 support is/was going to be announced at Fosdem 08 at the end of the month. I work for a group that has a number of PPC64 machines (JS20/p690/p655/p615) that I would like to get off RHEL 4 and on to CentOS 5, so I've been keeping an eye out for any news on this front. I am interested in helping test/build this release in whatever ways I can. I would be glad to test on whatever machines the developers might find useful, and could designate one or more of our JS20 blades as build hosts if there's need for such a thing. missing two updates in csgfs repo...

Hi I am just wonderling if there is some problem getting out the packages: cman-1.0.17-0.el4_6.3.src.rpm fence-1.32.50-2.el4_6.1.src.rpm they where released in 1/feb/08 and 20/dic/07 respectibly according to this page: http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/rhel4.6.z-cluster-errata.html what it is strange to me is that in each release day they where other packages released that are already in centos csgfs repo. so, is there a problem recompiling or just some how the packages remain hide to the ayes of centos developer? thanks roger __________________________________________ RedHat Certified ( RHCE ) Cisco Certified ( CCNA & CCDA ) Ask a question on any topic and get answers from real people. Anaconda improvement for network installs

Hi, Today I got a nice feature request from an OpenSUSE friend :) When doing a network installation, it could be useful to have a centos-mirror pre-registered into the installation form so that you do not need a second system (or a reboot to your previous OS) to look up what the correct mirror address is. The actual suggestion was to have a pull-down list of mirrors per country, but with our mirror-setup a single entry would most likely do anyway. Plus it keeps the changes to anaconda down to a minimum ! This maybe something that we could take with us for CentOS 5.2 (and 4.7 and a 3.9 respin ?) CentOS 5.1 Kernel for i586 (SRPM patch)

Hi, folks. Building a CentOS-5 Kernel for 586 machines is a quite simple way by enabling i586 in the spec file, adding the kabi information and creating a debug configuration for i586. Glibc and openssl for i586 rebuilds out of the box. Is there a convenient way for CentOS to maintaining i586 for version 5.1+ as it was done on CentOS-4? I have seen already an i586 Kernel for CentOS 5.0 in the plus repository - but I would like to know what problems occurred causing a discontinuing. I've made a patch for the kernel srpm (working on 2.6.18-53.el5 up to 2.6.18-53.1.6.el5) enabling rebuilding for the i586 target. CentOS 5.1 successfully runs on a Pentium 1 (tested: 200 MHz, 64MB RAM). (AMD-K6 should run, too.) The motivation is that some i586 class routers running CentOS-3 which should be replaced with 5. drbd82 RPMS for testing

All, There are drbd82 RPMS for CentOS-4 and CentOS-5 (i386 and x86_64) for testing here: http://people.centos.org/~hughesjr/drbd/ These are designed to be able to live in the same repository as the current STABLE versions. These RPMS are designed as CONFLICTS and not upgrades as there may be some manual actions to upgrade, especially on CentOS-4. Per Lance's post about a year ago, I'm writing to request access to the centos-qa mailing list. Without archives access it's hard to tell if this list is still active now that CentOS 5 is out of beta, but if so I'd like to help test the ppc64 release... as soon as Karanbir is back from vacation :) I have access to about a dozen ppc64 platforms of various age. No Power5 unfortunately, but pretty much everything before that from Power3 to PPC970. I have 6 years of documented Linux systems administration experience, with another 10 or so before that of incubational fiddling. Centos 5.1 on S390 and s390x

Hi, I was wondering if there has been any interest in continuing the port of Centos to the s390 and s390x forward to version 5.1 of the Centos project. I would be willing to contribute to the project financially or by managing a special interest group for this purpose. But if there has really been no interest beyond my own on this probably can't happen by myself. Currently I use Centos 4.6 on s390x for a sandbox environment for my consulting business and it a proven to be an invaluable tool for this purpose.
