'lo!
So nice to see an updated Alpha distro...
I currently am having a nasty little problem with X11 on my Alpha. I get
constant signal 11's when using the MGA driver, and the VGA driver simply
panic's the system. I've tried Centos 4.3 and Centos 4.3, and both have the
problem.
>From what the following thread:
http://www.redhat.com/archives/axp-list/2000-December/msg00410.html
Seems to describe the symptoms I'm getting.
I've not rebuilt X or glibc, since the libc5 days and am not experienced in
working with SRPM's.
Any guidance on how to do the modification noted in the above thread to a
SRPM would be greatly appreciated, or preferred (for the lazyman inside me),
some prebuilt packages :) .... would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
I am one of the pleased users of
firefox-1.5.0.2-3.c4.centos but now I wonder if it
will get update any time in the future because 1.5.0.4
is few days out already.
BTW, where can I find the politics behind update
procedure of "the files non provided by redhat" ?
is it something like "when the package builder
release it" ?
thanks in advance
roger

Hi,
I cannot take any more arches for official maintenance at current state
of the CentOS-project.
I'll keep it security updated until end of August, 2006. After that it's
not supported (unless someone else picks it up).
I am sorry it has to be this way. Sparc itself is kind of fun/challenging
arch to work with.

Hello,
Here's my submission for a new package: licq, IMHO the best IM
program available for Linux, much better than gaim.
The URL to the SRPM is:
http://www.durval.com.br/RPMS/el4/licq/licq-1.3.2-4dm1.el4.src.rpm
I've attached the .spec file.
PS: I've tested only the main package (licq-1.3.2-4dm1.el4.i386.rpm);
I've not tested the KDE (licq-kde-1.3.2-4dm1.el4.i386.rpm) nor the OSD
(licq-osd-1.3.2-4dm1.el4.i386.rpm) packages, as I have no use for either.
Best Regards,

hi all,
this is the first time I've contributed to a distro that is not my own,
so if I'm doing something the "wrong way", please do inform me. :-)
Briefly about me - I'm interested in becoming involved in helping to
develop CentOS (such as removing RH trademarks from new packages, and
adding extra packages.)
I have experience with developing distros, from when I developed my own
distro called "Jedo Linux".
http://www.jethrocarr.com/index.php?page=projects/jedolinux/jedolinux.php
In regards to the other subject of this email,
I've made a modified version of the initscript package. This adds
support for using dm-crypt encrypted filesystems on boot.
It allows encrypted swap, and encrypted storage directories. However,
it's not really designed for having an encrypted root filesystem
(although it could possibly be adapted without too much hassle).
I have a source RPM available here:
http://www.jethrocarr.com/packages/SRPMS/initscripts-7.93.24.EL-1.1.1.cento…
Basicly, I've added written a patch for initscripts, and made a couple
of minor changes to the spec file.
I wasn't sure what to name it, so I added a .1 and my name to the
release name. Feel free to change this to suit if you do decide to add
it to one of the repos. :-)
Usage details and configuration for the encrypted filesystems are
in /etc/sysconfig/enc-fstab.
thanks,

firefox-1.5.0.2-2.1.c4.centos.i386.rpm in the testing
repo produces this error when running it as non-rrot
and also as root
Firefox could not install this item because
"install.rdf" (provided by the item) is not well
formed or does not exist. Please contact the author
about this problem.
How to reproduce this message :-
1. download and upgrade
firefox-1.5.0.2-2.1.c4.centos.i386.rpm from the
testing repo
2. erase the previous firefox 1.5.0.1 from centosplus
and install the new one. It still gives this error
message.
