A patched kdepim package(for CentOS 4.2) for CJK user

Hi, all I have build a patched kdepim package for CJK user. More specifically, Knode is patched to support locale-dependent groupname encoding. CJK means Chinese, Japanese and Korean. They all need multi-byte charset(MBCS). A RFC requires that all newsgroup groupnames are encoded in UTF-8. Most newsreaders under UNIX are designed this way. But due to Microsoft products' feature(or call it bug), locale-dependent groupname encoding is the de facto standard in some CJK area. This package changes knode's behavior from UTF-8 to locale-dependent encoding, and will be helpful to CJK users. Non-CJK users probably will not need this package. And this package replaces the official kdepim package. Therefore, I think this package should go to centosplus directory. The knode patch is not written by me. I only build this kdepim package. It is from a chinese Linux distribution called Magic Linux. You can get the original patch from http://www.magiclinux.org/dev/old-1.2/cd1/SRPMS/kdepim-3.3.2-1mgc.src.rpm The original package is GPLed. So this patch is available under GPL. I, and some other users, have tested this patch, and it works. I hope this package can be merged into the CentOS repository(centosplus directory). And, I do not have a stable and secure space to store this package, I request a space(for example, a ftp account or a web space) at least 15M bytes large, so I can upload the SRPM.

3.6 Delay?

What's the status of CentOS 3.6? Red Hat released their update 6 to RHEL 3 on September 28. I updated our RHEL box a couple of weeks ago and things seem to be running acceptably well. The last thing I see in the archives is Johnny Hughes talking about mirror load from October 13 (and pointing out that the 4.2 release was well within the two-week time limit promised in the CentOS FAQ; the 3.6 update has clearly missed that deadline). I;m not expecting anything earthshaking in 3.6, but I am curious about whether the delay is due to no one remembering to flip the symlink or something more serious. If you need more testing, let me know and I can update some of my lab machines manually and listen for complaints. In any case, your work is much appreciated, especially as it's allowed me to stick with a Red-Hat--based distro and not redo all the work I'd done to handle installs. Firebird RDBS for CentOS

Hi all, i recently decide to use CentOS 4.1 and i find out that there isn't a Firebird RPM. So, i volunteer to make and maintain Firebird RPM's for the CentOS. Currently i am working ( among others ) in IBPhoenix www.ibphoenix.com, which provides commercial support for the Firebird and Interbase RDBMS's, and i participate as an administrator on the Firebird Project www.firebirdsql.org. CSGFS Updates

There are updates for CS & GFS for the new kernel and I guess for U6. Mirror mirror on the wall...

I am getting errors when I try and upload to the centos-2 mirror (rsync://jnewbigin@master.centos.org/centos-2/): rsync: readlink "/HEADER.html" (in centos-2) failed: Too many levels of symbolic links (40) rsync: readlink "/HEADER.images" (in centos-2) failed: Too many levels of symbolic links (40) rsync: readlink "/FOOTER.html" (in centos-2) failed: Too many levels of symbolic links (40) IO error encountered -- skipping file deletion I have made some local changes because I had a disk fail, but I don't think that is the cause of the problem. ACPI problems on laptops

Hello developers, I have the same problem that this guy has reported on bugzilla under CentOS 4.1: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=154061. My laptop reboots when I do a "shutdown -h now". My kernel version is centos original rpm: kernel-2.6.9-11.EL. Is this problem fixed on a new kernel revision? if not, how can I fix this whitout disabling acpi?? (When acpi is disabled, laptop does a clean shutdown). Thank you very much for your help. SPARC build machines perhaps available soon

PARI has been donated three large Enterprise servers; an E6500, and E6000, and an E5500. I am in process of arranging shipping and pickup, perhaps as soon as next week. Once delivered, I will be setting these beasts up and checking them out, building drive bays, etc. The idea is to install Aurora and bring it up to 1.92, then see abut the buildsystem for CentOS SPARC. The 6500 is destined to replace our Ultra 30 e-mail server, and might even become our webserver as well as a potential buildfarm box for CentOS/SPARC and/or Aurora. Rebuild of glibc fails on CentOS 4.1

Hi, I hope this is the appropriate list for the given issue. I was in the process of installing Xen on CentOS 4.1, when I ran into the problem that I could not rebuild glibc. (Xen needs a glibc compiled with -mno-tls-direct-seg-refs). The problem is that I cannot rebuild glibc at all (even without any modifications). The build fails during checks (I think it's ntpl) and the build process hangs. There is a defunc ld-linux.so.2 process. If I kill that one, the build goes on and creates rpms, but I guess that glibc must be broken anyway. The check logs give me no clue what could have happened. The problem was already reported in the CentOS forum on 2005/6/21: http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=1159 What I did was: * Install minimum CentOS 4.1 from ISOs * update the system using yum * install the toolchain to compile glibc (yum install gd-devel libpng-devel zlib-devel texinfo libselinux-devel gcc gcc-c++ rpm-build + deps) * Created an rpm-root for a regular user ("%_topdir /home/mip/rpm" in .rpmmacros) * as that user: rpm -i glibc-2.3.4-2.9.src.rpm * rpmbuild -ba --target i686 rpm/SPECS/glibc.spec Could you please tell me... * if I am doing something completely wrong? * if you can successfully rebuild glibc with an up-to-date system? * how to find out what really goes wrong here.
