koji/mock/createrepo_c/pigz packages distributed in CentOS 7 - extras ?

Hello all, It seems that starting yesterday new packages: koji/mock/createrepo_c/pigz/python-lockfile/python-munch are distributed in CentOS7 Extras repo: http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/extras/x86_64/Packages/ I believe all of the above are already provided by EPEL7, so why duplicate these ? I guess that these may be specific versions needed for cbs.centos.org buildsystem and I can see that these are dependencies of centos-packager which also has been added to extras: but then wouldn;t it be better to distribute these via an additional repository - like for SIG provided packages, and not in a repository that is (probably) enabled for most of CentOS users ? It seems to me that this set of packages is targeted at developer community, not at general users community ? I would like to join the CentOS Cloud Instance SIG on behalf of the Oracle Cloud team. My background in IT spans 25 years across verticals and Operating Systems. In my current Solution Architect role at Oracle, our team engages with System Integrator, ISV partners and Communities such as CentOS so their technologies and solutions are enabled on exciting new Oracle products and technologies through reference architectures, solution design, best practices and implementation guidance. My current focus area includes Oracle Compute Cloud Services and Oracle Marketplace. Oracle Compute Cloud Service is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering that provides flexible and scalable compute, block storage, and networking services on Oracle Cloud. Oracle Compute Cloud Service is ideal for customers who want to set up test and development environment in the public cloud, or migrate their on-premises workloads to the public cloud and leverage the benefits of cloud. Oracle customers benefit from Operating System choice to run a variety of workloads in Oracle Compute Cloud Service. The goals of my participation in the CentOS Cloud Instance SIG are to facilitate community built CentOS official images to exist in the oracle Cloud Marketplace and ensure the users have a good experience, in a community supported format. Distributions Devroom CFP

FOSDEM 2016 - Distributions Devroom Call for Participation The Distributions devroom will take place 30 & 31 January, 2016 at FOSDEM, in room K.4.201 at Université Libre de Bruxelles, in Brussels, Belgium. As Linux distributions converge on similar tools, the problem space overlapping different distributions is growing. This standardization across the distributions presents an opportunity to develop generic solutions to the problems of aggregating, building, and maintaining the pieces that go into a distribution. We welcome submissions targeted at developers interested in issues unique to distributions, especially in the following topics: - Cross-distribution collaboration on common issues, eg: content distribution and documentation - Working with vendor relationships (eg. cloud providers, non-commodity hardware vendors etc ) - The future of distributions, emerging trends and evolving user demands from the idea of a platform - User experience management ( onboarding new users, facilitating technical growth, user to contribution transitions etc ) - Building trust and code relationships with the upstream components of a distribution - Solving traditional problems like package management, and content management (eg. rpm/dpkg/ostree/coreos ) - Contributor resource management, centralised trust management, key trust etc - Integration technologies like installers, deployment facilitation ( eg. cloud contextualisation ) Submissions may be in the form of 30-55 minute talks, panel sessions, round-table discussions, Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions or lightning talks. Vagrant box builds are failing in cbs

Hi, Looks like there is some issue with cbs i.e. image-factory, because all vagrant builds are failing for me. The builds are failing for source files which had built fine previously. For example build [1] is using the same source files (kickstart files etc) as build [2] but it failed where as build [2] has succeeded previously. kernel debug and kernel module debug

Hello, I am new with CentOs, and more familiar with small linux kernel Sdk. I would like to ask if it is possible to kernel debug ( and kernel module debug in particular) CentOs kernel module. I've been searching the subject in web, but only found reference to qemo+gdb. I wanted to debug a kernel module in the real hardware environment so I think qemo is not going to help in this case. VPAT for centos 7 - section 508 compliance statement

I am working on getting Centos 7 approved for use at a federal agency, RHEL is already approved for use in production. One of the blockers I hit is, "Does the vendor provide a VPAT?" Does the attached look right? Where should this be posted?
