python3-pyOpenSSL missing from CentOS Stream 9

Hi, There was a package mentioned recently that is not in the composes for cs9 https://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-devel/2021-July/077184.html I have another example, python3-pyOpenSSL https://kojihub.stream.centos.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=6236 This package was built for cs9, but it is not in the composes. I noticed it because python3-pyOpenSSL is a requirement for some ansible modules, for example https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/2.7/modules/openssl_certificate_module.html https://docs.centos.org/en-US/stream-contrib/quickstart/#_whats_going_on_wi… has some information about koji tags, but to me it is not clear to what it means if specific koji tags are missing, but it seems to me that it should have c9s-gate and possibly other tags too to land in the composes. My question is: why is this? best regards, markus

First off, thank you very much for that. That is perhaps the best "Here is my environment" anyone has ever sent me. The problem is that you don't have the epel-next repo anywhere. At the very least you need to have "epel-next-release" in kickstarts/8/base.ks If you wanted the newer kde packages installed during install you need to add the epel-next repo to kickstarts/8/base-repo.ks I believe it should be repo --name=epel-next --mirrorlist= https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=epel-next-$releasever&arch=… or possibly just repo --name=epel-next --mirrorlist= https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=epel-next-$releasever&arch=… Hope this helps. What does "fresh install" mean in this context? (You freshly installed the kde-desktop, you did a new CentOS Stream 8 minimal/server/workstation install, etc..) I haven't seen this yet, and I'm having a hard time reproducing it. Request for Comment: CentOS Governance docs update

TL;DR: * New document: https://centos.org/about/governance/board/ * Comments welcome Background: Over the past few months, the Board of Directors has asked me to draft more formal governance/bylaw documents, which define may of the "everybody just knows" aspects of CentOS governance. This is part of our ongoing attempt to be more transparent in all aspects of CentOS project governance. In my initial work, I am working on three main documents: * Board of Directors * Special Interest Groups * Voting and Consensus These topics are already covered on the website and wiki, but the information is scattered across several documents, and is sometimes confusing and contradictory. This effort attempts to consolidate, and have one authoritative source. As such, the document linked above will initially augment, but eventually replace the following documents: https://centos.org/about/governance/board-responsibilities/ https://centos.org/about/governance/joining-the-project/ https://centos.org/about/governance/voting/ And presumably others as I continue to look around. The other two documents mentioned - SIGs and Voting - are next on the list and I hope to get to them next month some time. If you are interested in project governance, have opinions about how things should be, or want to help in any other way, please do let me know. If enough people show up, we can form some kind of working group to continue work on this and remove some of the ambiguity around our governance.

Hello all, As I announced a month ago[1], the CentOS Hyperscale SIG started producing an experimental Hyperscale Workstation Spin to showcase the technologies we're working on to the broader community. Today, I'm pleased to announce we've made updated images again! Notably, this refresh not only includes an updated experimental GNOME Workstation ISO, but now we have an experimental KDE Workstation ISO, based on the great work that Troy Dawson has done to refresh KDE Plasma in EPEL[2]. The SELinux policy module for systemd has been refreshed to resolve this. * SELinux denials with sssd and useradd should no longer occur. The other known issues from earlier announcements[1][3] are still present in this release. However, for KDE Plasma, there are several known issues: * The branding is incoherent. SDDM uses the Fedora 31 background in its theme and Plasma itself reverts to upstream branding instead of CentOS-specific branding. This is being investigated and will be resolved in a future release. * Konsole opens up as a tiny window until you resize it. This is an upstream bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437791 * The application panel opens up in the center instead of on the left, and sometimes gets its own application icon when opened up.
