Short answer? No.
Long answer:
- The base repository design will not change. These packages could be
accepted into a SIG or variant build, but they will never be in base.
- Elrepo is an entirely separate project that we have no control over.
It's entirely up to them to decide if they want to go this route. We could certainly welcome them, but it's not our decision to make.
Since ELRepo make a point of being independent and working with all RHEL clones and RHEL itself, I do not think they really fit in the CentOS space.
On the other hand it would save a step for many users and lower the learning curve for anyone new to include the release-rpm for the elrepo and EPEL repositories in the distribution - even if they were disabled by default.
