I want to be able to run i386 applications on CentOS4 x86_64 boxes that use sound - for this to work the snd-ioctl32 kernel module needs to be loaded.
This module isn't loaded by default by rc.sysinit, and I was just wondering if anyone knew the 'correct' way to get this module installed.
I can get it to work by adding the following line to /etc/modprobe.conf:
install snd /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd && \ /sbin/modprobe snd-ioctl32
This works fine - but is this an acceptable way to do this? Is there a better method?
That is how I would do it ...
