All -debuginfo packages are produced by overloading a macro to insert text into a spec file in the same fashion.
But yes, its a hack, just like -debuginfo packages are a hack.
ps. anyway it's turn out that the upstream src.rpm contains expired ssl cert which is the reason why it's not longer rebuildable:-)
