Stream 8 is EOL → No official support, no updates, and mirrors already dropped it. This aligns with the official CentOS lifecycle policy.
Resource savings → Frees disk space and reduces bandwidth load (important given the zabbix alerts you’re already getting).
Operational simplicity → Less clutter, smaller dataset to maintain, less chance of confusion for users.
