Hi,
I had a look at ftp://ftp.redhat.com/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Server/en/os/SRPMS/ and found following RPMs for rsync
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Server/en/os/SRPMS/rsync-2.6.8-3.1.src.rpm ftp://ftp.redhat.com/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Server/en/os/SRPMS/rsync-3.0.6-4.el5.src.rpm ftp://ftp.redhat.com/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Server/en/os/SRPMS/rsync-3.0.6-4.el5_7.1.src.rpm
http://mirror.centos.org/centos-5/5.6/os/SRPMS/ has http://mirror.centos.org/centos-5/5.6/os/SRPMS/rsync-2.6.8-3.1.src.rpm
http://mirror.centos.org/centos-5/5.6/updates/SRPMS/ has no rpms for rsync
Am I severely misguided in assuming that rsync-3.0.6-4.el5 and rsync-3.0.6-4.el5_7.1 should exist in CentOS 5 ?

If I am not mistaken the new ones that you have spotted have been released as part of RHEL 5.7/base and 5.7/updates and will be shipped by Centos as part of CentOS-CR ( probably) and CentOS 5.7 (surely)

Well, I was suspecting that I missed something. I did not thought of 5.7

as a indication - the dist tag (el5_7) of the package version helps me sometimes :-)
