Before I get all worked up about this idea, I want to see if it is feasible, and if there is any interest in it.
I'd like to start a SIG where we create images (Live and Install iso's) that are based on both CentOS Stream and EPEL together.
For live images we could have a CS9-KDE-Live.iso, CS9-XFCE-Live.iso, CS9-GNOME-Live.iso, or even a large CS9-ALL-DESKTOPS-Live.iso.
For install images we could have CS9-minimal.iso, maybe a KDE, or others. I mainly want the minimal iso so I don't have to download the massive 8 Gig DVD if I want just the minimum, but don't want to do a network install.
So, my two questions are.
Would this be possible on the current CentOS Stream infrastructure?
Would anyone else want a SIG like this?

The Hyperscale SIG is currently doing this (for c8s, c9s is still a WIP) using livecd-creator, but we need https://pagure.io/centos-infra/issue/388 sorted out before we can build on the CBS infrastructure, so for the time being we're doing this outside of the standard CentOS infra. We also looked at using Kiwi, but that needs https://pagure.io/centos-infra/issue/696
See https://sigs.centos.org/hyperscale/spins/workstation/ for more details.

We'd definitely be interested in collaborating, I suspect a lot of the work we've already done here could be shared.

I have absolutely no issue with this. I like the idea of an easy way to get what you want and to easily have EPEL already going on startup.
I would also volunteer to help generate images is needed.
Thanks, Johnny Hughes
It sounds like the interest is there. It also sounds like the infrastructure is close enough that maybe we can make it happen.
I think I'll start working on the SIG paperwork. I was thinking of a name for the sig. I was thinking of Alternate Images

I've built kickstarts for c8s for Hyperscale using livecd-tools that can be trivially adapted for mainline CentOS: https://pagure.io/centos-sig-hyperscale/spin-kickstarts
And I'm working on kiwi descriptions for c9s Hyperscale that also can be similarly adapted: https://pagure.io/centos-sig-hyperscale/kiwi-descriptions/pull-request/1

This sounds great!
