For those of you who have been asking about software collections...
We've been working to make it more developer/contributor friendly in true upstream fashion (and also so that we can provide proper builds).
Feel free to observe or participate in the discussion. https://www.redhat.com/archives/sclorg/2014-October/msg00007.html

Has there been any discussion as to how the branches within git will be named?

That discussion has been started, but I don't believe it's been resolved yet. Please feel free to participate/contribute. I'd imagine this discussion will bleed across both lists, but I'd prefer to keep it on the sclo list for now to help them see the community interest and involvement.

this would also be a great example of how we can work with a dist-git layout and an upstream git repo in git.centos.org; maybe best to thrash out the best formats for this and branch naming etc in the scl list

How difficult would it be to map versions _exactly_ to fedora distributions in addition to the more stable upstream version? I've often thought it would be nice to be able to use/test more up to date development tools without the hassle of dealing with the experimental kernels you get if you actually install fedora. With a software collection approach having a number of choices available on a stable system might work.

I believe it was a face to face discussion, so not really.
