Anyone have any good/bad experiences with this?
The rpm from Fedora Rawhide will build on CentOS4 if you remove the "-Wno-pointer-sign" option from the CFLAGS line in the spec file (http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=36419&edit=1), but I haven't done anything other than build it.
I'm guessing there is probably some good reason php 5.0.x is in centosplus and not php 5.1? Maybe a candidate for the repository on dev.centos.org though?

Indeed. But I'm extremely busy until early April.

I have them installed - very minimally tested (just tested with Horde webmail so far). Like I said, just the one change in the spec file. For the record, my srpm's are here : http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/contribs/gswallo w/sme7/do_not_install/php5/src/
