Redhat has had llvm-toolset-7.0 available since March 2019. It adds support for clang and llvm version 7. See https://developers.redhat.com/blog/2019 ... rust-1-31/ https://developers.redhat.com/blog/2019/03/29/red-hat-enterprise-linux-compiler-toolset-updates-clang-llvm-7-0-go-1-11-rust-1-31/
Is this going to be available on Centos 7 and if so, when?
Don't confuse this with llvm-toolset-7 which supports the older clang version 5 which is already available with Centos 7.
While this is packaged as SCL as well, it is not part of the RHSCL content in Red Hat, so we originally did not pay closer attention to that piece of sw in SCLo SIG.
It looks like there is some demand now, so we can probably request cbs tags for that and try to rebuild that SCL, similarly as we do it for other RHSCL content.
Ken, if there would be some troubles with rebuilding, would you be willing to help, by any chance?

I just learned devtoolset-8.1 is now available Perhaps the effort is best spent on that package instead.

I'm a bit puzzled now -- do I understand correctly that gcc 8.3 fulfills your needs and you can use it instead of the llvm that was previously requested?

My apologies for my last message. I didn't read the devtoolset-8.1 posting thoroughly and incorrectly assumed it was for llvm. What I need is the latest version of the llvm-toolset.

What is the general process for getting an equivalent to SCLs by Red Hat into SCLo? The SCL I'm interested in specifically is jws5, i.e., an up to date tomcat web server.

I'm willing to help with any necessary packaging changes if someone can point me in the right direction.
Do I just `centpkg import`the relevant SRPMS from Red Hat to get started?

Generally, it needs manual work for repackaging, as SCL spec files are different from the regular ones. Any help is welcome.

You want to use "mock", you really do. I publish patches to the OpenSuSE "py2pack" tool for building python modules, including a configuration file for activating SCL in a /etc/mock/sclpy27-x86_64.cfg file, and a python .spec file. See my working configs at https://github.com/nkadel/py2packrepo
